Nice aesthetic; good size; handle could be stronger.
So this bin is being used for a purpose not commonly shared, but let's remove the stigma and talk semi-trash for practical purposes since there aren't too many similar reviews or discussions about it. This review contains graphic descriptions of a sensitive nature. (And no, that's not meant to entice.) This bin was used for laundry soaking of soiled fabrics, particularly, cloth feminine napkins, but could also be used for cloth baby diapers or soiled dish towels. It started with an Instagram story from Apartment Therapy about soaking soiled white dish towels in a glass jar of OxyClean laundry supplement until ready to launder. It was a less-toxic way to reduce stains and disinfect towels without destroying the fibers. From there, we did some research about hydrogen peroxide as a cleaning supplement for pre-treating blood stains and other disinfecting laundry tips. Some time ago, some of the females in our household decided to switch to cloth menstrual pads because traditional disposable ones were causing rashes. Although a better solution, it made for more specialized laundry. Soiled ones were kept in a wet bag, and required multiple washes with vinegar, then baking soda, and rinses at the end of a week, but they still stank. Thus, the solution of pre-soaking them in OxyClean laundry detergent and water in a bin of some sort was born after that Apartment Therapy tip. But what kind of bin? The bathroom was upstairs and shared by several others who certainly didn't need to see this type of laundry. Glass is incredibly impractical. This bin was the solution. Large enough to hold 10-15 pads in soapy water, discreet, easy to clean, and isn't an eyesore. A standard clear wastebasket liner works well with it if the idea of staining the interior bin walls makes you feel squeamish or you're lazy like us and don't want to have to wash the bin every time we empty it.

Great kitchen compost set!
There is nothing not to like about this product. As a former chef and still very active cook, I generate a lot of food debris. Formerly I had an ugly open canister lined with compostable bags on my kitchen countertop. I had to empty it often, putting the now full bags into an equally ugly open bin until I could get it all out to the recycling area at the end of day. I decided I really needed something better. I ordered the 3L bin for the kitchen countertop, and the 16L to collect it all. It is working perfectly for me, and has really streamlined this process. The lids open easily, can be removed to line the bins with bags, and are completely washable. Oh, and floral debris goes in, too. I love this simple system.

This Is a sturdy pail and I love the color!
I mostly bought this item because of it’s sleek appearance and the blue color is really amazing. It’s a great size for lots of uses but I use it as a compost pail. The lid stays on snugly but slips off pretty smoothly. With the swinging handle it’s super easy to dump all the veggie trimmings and coffee grounds right into the compost pile and rinse with the hose close by. It’s sturdy and I know I’ll have it for a long time.

Fine countertop compost bucket
It is smaller than I was expecting but probably the appropriate size for collecting compost next to the sink. I may eventually replace it with a slightly larger version.

I am using as a trash bin in my bathroom
I originally bought to use as a compost bid. But I changed my mind and am using as a bathroom trash can. It looks very nice in the bathroom. Because there is a lid, I don’t have to see the trash inside. Also, it holds the plastic bag liner very well. So it keeps clean inside. It came with two (could be one, I forgot) sample just-fit plastic trash liners. But I have been using regular kitchen trash liners. It is a little too big for it. But it is more convenient to buy the kitchen size in regular stores. It is made well. I feel it is going to last long time.

Looks nice, Contains smells well, even kitty litter
This bin is really neat. It looks nice, and it contains smells very well. I use it to hold kitty litter waste. The lid on this isn't airtight, but it's quite snug. Obviously the smell hits you when it's open, but I can't smell anything at all when it's closed. (Note: I also pour baking soda into the bottom of the bag before using.) The handle is also very handy. I'm glad I bought this.

Great countertop compost
6L review: I’ve been composting for a decade now & I bought this to replace my countertop bin. I love it. It holds more volume without taking up more space, the lid works better than my last & it’s minimalist design is nice. I make most meals at home & use lots of veggies but only need to empty 1x a week. I do not use a liner bag & it does not smell. It’s easy to clean.

Truly Life-Changing
Truly-- life changing. Makes composting, helping the environment so easy by reducing food waste!! I just take the bag out and drop it right in the community compost bin. The size is great, and there are different options, it's easy to use and maybe the best part-- it emits no odor outside the box, or in really, it dilutes the smell in there somehow too. If you go longer than a week without emptying, some liquid might leak but it's easy enough to clean- I just rinse in the shower (no dishwasher). Love love love

Not being familiar with sizes I bought the 16L thinking it might make a laundry basket for a tiny shower room, but its really too small for that. It is just big enough to make a really nice rubbish sorting bin (which is what it was made for). I use it for paper cardboard and looks really stylish and nice for a rubbish bin. This is for a one person household. Advice is to buy one and to see how you feel about size and how much waste your household creates over a week, cans, paper, plastic, glass, compost and then buy more from there. I also bought the mint 6L and it makes a nice kitchen compost bin that is easier to wash and more hygienic than the council one.

We purchased this composter as I was tired of looking at the nasty brown one given to us by the council after the introduction of their scheme. we wanted something easy to clean that was more aesthetically pleasing and this one fits perfectly on the window of our kitchen without being too much of an eyesore. the white version we purchased has a strong, anthracite coloured handle and really is an improvement on the old caddy. It's really sturdy and modern looking, and the lid seems to seal perfectly shut meaning no more nasty smells every time someone puts a banana skin in there (why do they always smell so bad?!) The caddy comes with a wall plate if you wish to mount it - this looks like it would work on the inside of a cupboard door but we have ours sitting on the windowsill. It comes with 10 Brabantia compostable liners the whole lid comes away to change the liners which just wrap around the edges and are then help in place by the lid. It does seem fairly secure and doesn't seem to slip away as the bag starts to get full. I think the only con would be that it doesn't seem to be designed to take other brands of bags, however, I have found that you can get around this by simply cutting the handles off the Tesco version which are considerably cheaper - if you don't want to do that the bags will still fit but you will see them hanging out the side. I would advise that you do not fill this to the brim however - as the bags get full it can be rather had to tie them in a knot as there are no handles or anywhere to use in order to seal them, I have found that I can comfortably get away with the bin being just over half full before the liner needs replacing but it seems to hold so much more than the normal caddy's anyway that this is not really a problem! Overall I would thoroughly recommend this caddy and will be considering the rest of the Brabantia range as their products always seem to tick every box!

I really like this item. Nice quality and loving the yellow colour, very lively. Easy to install the bin bag too.

We use the 12L bin as a compost caddy, i.e. to temporarily store compostable kitchen waste before taking out to the garden. We found the usual size of compost caddy a bit on the small size as we eat a lot of fruit and veg and also make fresh juices. We were worried that the 12L bin might be a little on the large size for this but you don't HAVE to fill it right to the top and even if you do it's not too heavy and the handle is more than up to the task of carrying it out. Worries unfounded, the size is perfect. The bin is made of a quality plastic with a matt/satin finish and looks very nice in the pastel blue colour. The lid easily lilfts completely off and the Brabantia 12L liners fit perfectly inside (a few of these are included with the bin). There is an option to mount it on the wall with the included bracket. This looks very sturdy and functional, but I can't comment fully as we had nowhere suitable to mount it so it just sits on the floor where the last caddy once sat. In short, very happy with the purchase and glad we chose Brabantia.
