Mostly Broth & Liver/Lung (rather than Beef) - Cats hated it, could be good...
As the other reviewer noted, this has large amount of broth--it is more like a soup. And out of the meat chunks they do include, the cans I received were mostly liver & lung ("Where's the beef?"). Definitely find it locally and purchase 1 or 2 cans first to see if you cats will like it. Cats are known to be finicky, so be careful. I have a feeling this food will be a 50/50 hit and miss or even worse.PROS:1. No Carrageenan/Guar Gum/(any gum)2. Grain free3. Beef flavorCONS:1. Large amount of broth (like a soup), seemingly very little meat2. Mostly liver/lung instead of beef meat.3. Cost is high for the little amount of meat you do get4. (Personal): Smell & my cats hate it.My cat prefers beef over any other meat type, so I've been waiting years for Tiki Cat to come out with a beef flavor. I was excited to see the Gourmet Carnivore line, with chunks of beef and liver, although I would've preferred it if were like the original line--just shredded beef in broth. I decided to try it anyway, and my cat gives it 4 paws down with a disgusting "Are you trying to poison me?" look on his face every time I try to serve it. The outside stray cat, who normally loves any wet food (is not picky), also gives it 4 paws down and a confused "Uh... what is this?" look.I think the scent turns them off as it definitely turns me off too. I don't really blame them for not wanting to eat it. It's not like the regular Tiki Cat Chicken or Salmon flavors where it just smells like Chicken/Salmon. It doesn't even have a "classic" "cat-foody" scent that drives felines mad (a la Fancy Feast). Instead, it has an odd, icky aroma. Initially, I thought perhaps that smell appealed to cats, but it doesn't seem to appeal to mine.NOTE: The two cats have started to refuse to eat the Tiki Cat chicken flavors also, but will still eat the Salmon (Hanalei Luau), so I'm not sure if Tiki Cat has changed/is changing or if the cats are just getting pickier.Your cats may love it. Mine were disgusted by it. I would suggest that you try it and see.

FALSE ADVERTISING FROM TIKI
This is definitely interesting. There is some shredded beef in it, probably a third, but then there are these HARD little squares that were even difficult for me to smash up for my kitty. They smelled like liver but why they are so hard is a mystery. Emma wasn't crazy about it either because she took a few bites and then was looking around, which is a sign she's not thrilled with the choice I've given her. Honestly, if she didn't have so many allergies, I wouldn't get this again. She can have beef however so it seemed worth a try. Even saying that, I'm not sure I will buy it again. I'm also not happy about them using the dextroxe anhydrous, which is a sugar. Cats do not need sugar! Of any type!UPDATE: 3-20-15 I had to come back and take away a few stars. I had checked out the ingredient list from the Tiki website and after a few days realized it is not the same as what is on the label on the can. I contacted the company on the 9th and have yet to hear back from them. I should have known not to trust them because I had a problem with some of the salmon food about a year ago that was spoiled and when I contacted them then, they just told me that "sometimes the ingredients don't get mixed up well enough". They did send me some cans as some type of customer service but they were not what I had purchased and could not be used as my cat is allergic to chicken. I have 3 cases of this new gourmet food now that I will not use because of the different ingredient labels. Kind of shakes your faith in the company when on their website it says one thing and the actual cans say another. BTW - their website does not list the dextrose anhydrose but it is surely in the product.

Cats love this!
I am so so happy that Tiki Cat finally rolled out more meat based food, as my 4 cats absolutely love the Puka Puka chicken (their main diet), but are not so enthusiastic about the fish based flavors. I have tried nearly all the new flavors of this new line, and the ones with liver (this one, and the chicken and liver) are my 4's favorite. I give this 4 stars, however, because the consomme makes up nearly half the volume of the can (40%), which means there is a lot of liquid in it as there is also olive oil (3.5% of the can). That being said, I simply fork out the meat, mix with their Puka Puka chicken and pour an appropriate amount of the consomme on the food (unfortunately mine will regurgitate food that has way too much liquid). There is still enough meat in 1 can to give each of mine a little bit of it.I would suggest, if there is a store nearby that sells this, buying individual cans first. The holistic store closest to me sells individual cans for $2 ea. So this price is great for a 12 pack if your cats like it!

Good food, dented cans
I have bought seceral types of Tiki Cat food from amazon (different varieties/packages/sellers)...my cat really likes it and I like the fact that it isn't as processed as the other cat foods and is grain free (outside of the rice varieties). The only reason I am digging it 1 star is that every time I order I receive at least 1 (usually 2) dented cans. I thought maybe it was something with the type of shipment, but I ordered another brand's cat food and had no dents...but every single one of my Tiki Cat orders (its been at least 12 now) have all had at least one dented can - some pretty bad. While I don't mind it too much, I do worry of the cause of the dents, and if anything seeps into the food because of it. While I like Tiki Cat, if my cat enjoys the other brand just as much, it might be enough to get me to switch.

Cans were bent, and in a store, I ...
Cans were bent, and in a store, I would not buy bent or damaged cans. The food itself, while probably healthy, is hard pieces of liver. My catseat the liquid, and leave the hard liver unless I smash every single pieceinto smaller bite sizes.
