I used this on my recent trip to Mexico and it helped me so much.

I like that the product itself is lightweight. It does work just that it is a little slow as well as requiring an app to be able to use it. I did not think it would need an app and wish it did not require it. Kind of pricey. Again, it is an okay product but would not pay that much for it due to some of the issues it comes along with such as only working with an app, it’s slow, and user agreement in foreign language and do not understand that.

The reason I'm giving this a 2 stars rating as oppose to a flat 1 star is for the simple fact that it does do a decent job translating and recognizing speech. However the bads outweigh the goods and by a large margin.The unit is small, lightweight and slick. Maybe too slick that it is a fingerprints magnet and would require constant wiping to keep its glossy shine.My biggest issue with it apart from forcing me to agree to a privacy and service terms written in a foreign language is that it is not completely a standalone device and must have its companion app always running on a phone! This is even in Offline mode!The app is for some reason token based and requires purchase of tokens in order to download the limited selection of language packs (8 in total). Each language pack cost about 10 tokens. Luckily the device comes with a coupon code worth 70 tokens. So you are able to download 7 out of 8 available language packs. However in order to use them in offline mode you'd still need the translator paired to the phone and its app running. In fact the only way to switch between modes is via the app. But, and it's a big BUT, the app crashes anytime I tried to use it in this mode and displays a message suggesting it has a bug and needs updating! However there is no update I could download and I doubt there will be any in near future.Pros: Somehow accurate translation and speech recognition.Cons: Needs a constantly running app and phone. Speaker too loud. Annoying and loud beeping prompt. Can't work offline. Buggy app.2 stars

This little gadget is not a standalone translator, rather it connects via bluetooth to your cell phone and needs an app to run. The app uses your cellular or wifi connection to query your phrase for translation, and while there are offline settings you still need your phone to make any of this possible. I was hoping for a translator that worked without an app. I will say that the translation was smooth and I like being able to see the text translated, but I would rather use my phone alone then have to carry another device that offers no standalone operation.

We got this for my family use while traveling.It arrives in a box needing to be charged.We let it charge for 6 hours as the listing stated.It also needs to be used with an app that has to be downloaded.The app has a user agreement that is only in Chinese.It comes with directions.It seems to be made well as far as the unit itself.The casing is solid.We have some big issues with this.The user agreement is not in English, and it is not even an option.The app is mandatory, even offline.There is a major lag in the translation.We tried it with a very good connection to WiFi and it still was very slow.We would not buy this again.
