Window would leak where the 2 pieces meet and it locks. I put a few of these up on that ledge and waited for our next rain. This absorbed the water pretty well. It is true though....they have to be touching the water to work. And since it sits on that window ledge in the sun...it dries easily too. They are delicate though. One rolled off that ledge and broke. However, that is to be expected based on the material.
