Lithonia Lighting 4' Low-Profile Curved Basket LED Wraparound Ceiling Light

We bought this light to replace a round dimmable light that we bought from Home depot less than a year ago that suddenly started flashing off and on like lightning bolts. I selected this light for two reasons. First because I thought it was supposed to be dimmable and secondly because, being 48" long it would eliminate the shadow problem the had with the round light from Home Depot. It did solve the shadow problem and provides light so bright that we joke about needing sun glasses because, at least with the light switch we have, it is not dimmable. Also took a little improvisation to install but no big deal.

While there are other brands of LED light fixtures to choose from you can always count on Lithonia to be exactly what you hoped for. The install is easy and if you need to modify the connection from an old fluorescent fixture it is easy. Takes about thirty minutes to remove an old fixture and install the new Lithonia. The cost is a bit more than most others to choose from but the quality is there and so it the company behind it.

I installed one of these lights in my garage and it is great. When I installed another one in my laundry room, it was actually too bright. I considered installing a dimmer switch, but there was no information given on what type of dimmer switch to use. Not good! Upon investigation I discovered that it requires a 0-10 v dimmer. This type of dimmer needs 5 wires. Three of the wires are the 2 line voltage wires and the ground wire, and the other 2 wires are for the lower voltage control. This type of wiring is common in commercial buildings, but not in residential homes. This limitation on its dimmable capability should have been made clear to prospective buyers.

My expectation was to replace the existing fluorescent lights in my garage with LED's that looked and worked the same way. After installing the Lithonia LBL4 LP840's they turned out to be brighter than the existing 40 watt fixtures that I replaced. The lights are very pleasant and the instant on behavior is great. I am extremely happy with the product and would recommend them to anyone that needs a major upgrade from older fluorescent lighting.

You can find cheaper but this Lithonia fixture is quality that will last. Superior replacement to the fluorescent 4 foot two tube fixture. More light and no buzzing.

I ordered eight of these lights and one did not work right out of the box. The toll free number provided for the vendor is not in service and if you email the vendor thru amazon, it comes back as undeliverable. Amazon does not allow a return or refund as an option so I'm stuck paying for a defective light I cannot use. Good thing it was a great price! Buy at your own risk!
