Almost the best battery powered Palm PDA there is
In this day and age (2015) almost anything from at least 10 years ago with internal rechargable batteries will be degraded either slightly or fully (dead)I recently dug up my old Palm IIIe and with some new batteries it was as good as the day I first got itI wanted a battery powered Palm PDA with expandable memory so my options were Handspring (Visor solo/Deluxe/Neo), the Palm 125 and the Sony Clie SL10 (there are others in the Clie line but this had 320x320)So I just bought all of them. I had been wanting this model since I was in junior high and now that i have it, it's better than I hoped.Much better backlight than the inverted one of Palm, high-res (for the time) screen that still doesn't dissappoint today, expandable memory, great built in applications and some tweak by Sony that honestly Palm OS should have by defaultonly gripe is the screen seems dim indoors without the backlight, and that of course eats battery, but w/e. It's still very unique to have with you in day to day life.

it's the service, stupid!
I have been considering adding PEG-SL10 to a Sony Clie Sl-S360 that I bought two months ago. The S360 worked fine, in fact, as perfect as it comes. The memory stick is great, especially if you have other Sony equipment that uses it. However, after two months of use it all of a suddent went dead. The usual tricks like resetting, etc. failed to revive it, and Sony technician had me send it for service to Sony, express mail and all paid by the warranty. 3 weeks later, it came back -- dead as when I sent it back to them, though accompanied with a slip saying it had been tested and worked fine. I am senign it back again. Imagine being without your phone book and pocket calendar for a month! This is totally unacceptable. I wonder if other manufacturers are any better. I've looked at other manufacturers' sites. They seem to keep mum about it, and so does CNET. The only soluiton I can imagine is the "Jaguar" method: buy two. So, I bought PEG-SL10. What an excellent machine! All the functions have a large font option (small, medium, large) which makes for the best possible screen -- once the backlighting is turned on (you need it in dim light). The fact that it has 8 MB rather than 16, as SL360, isn't that important for me or anyone, unless you plan to show movies, keep a photo gallery or read an ebook version of Moby Dick. In short, an excellent little PDA.

Beware the warranty and service issues
SONY has a default 90 day warranty. If you register online within 90 days(sugggest you use a spam attracting email address!) the warranty period is extended to 1 year. The web site service descriptions suggest that SONY isn't very strong in the service department, but we've not called. We've twice experienced a complete reset with total data loss on this device. Once might have been due to the battery cover coming loose. Watch that battery cover.Several users have commented that the text is very fine and hard to read. A Japanese developer has generously provided a fix for the world, the resulting fonts are quite readable. (ThinFontFix

Don't Trust about "Expandable Memory"
I really like to express the problem I have struggling with Sony SL-10. I thought it was a good buy with additional Memory Stick (MS). I found out it was really a waste becuase I cannot run/read a text book from MS with an application such as Reader in internal system. I had to transfer everthing (all data: a whole textbook)from MS to internal; then, it runs. So, my point is "Don't get fooled with Memory Expandable." What is the point of getting a memory stick which you cannot run the programs from? All you can play is with 'internal free space, 7 MB.'I called twice to get help from 1-877-760-7669, but nothing helps. It blames on low memory space.Believe me! Most of us using this product areundergrads, grads and professional students. We need more memory space (without a memory stick)..I regret that I bought it. Now I am in search of a Palm pilot........other than SONY after 2 years frustration with this product.

Too out dated
This is a old school gadget that no longer works well in modern age. It did not work as it should. The Co. and Amazon both were nice about it and took it back. Did not work for me. If you get it make sure its worth it. You may want something more current or a better cell phone with the same options.

Clie SL 10
The product came to me really fast BUT only part of the Clie came--no manual, no software, no cable, no AC adapter, and the person sent two stylus' neither fit this Clie. I've had nothing but problems. When I try to get back to the seller my message bounces back.

Wish they have it in color
I have a Visor Edge...absolutely love it! However, I was looking for a smaller non-color PDA... Sony Clie fits the bill. I wish Sony has a better cover like the Visor Edge, which would be awesome!Hopefully, Sony makes it in color...

Battery Operated Clie
The display is extreme low and very hard to read - no way to brighten. The software provided would not work on my new laptop using Windows 8- so I am stuck.
