Were Not The Only Ones Eh ? ) ** I Remember The Flak That Was Aimed At The Santa Monica ( California ) Police Department.Apparently, They Had A List ( " Book " ) Of Who NOT To Arrest....Even If Stopped...The Names Included Actor James Arness ( Gunsmoke, Etc ) Who Was ( Then ) " Honorary Mayor " Of Santa Monica.Others Included Peter Lawford Who Had A Home On Santa Monica Beach, Where President Kennedy Had Stayed.The Newspapers ( Santa Monica Evening Outlook And The Los Angeles Times ) Were Then Prevented From Publishing The Entire List ( " Book " ) Then Wilted On The Vine - And The Story " Went Away "Perhaps One Day, Some Screen-Writer Will Write About The Above, But I Doubt It...Besides, Most Young People Today Would Ask - Who In The Heck Is Peter Lawford ?

DISAPPOINTED BY HOW MUCH OF FILM WAS MISSING FROM WHAT I REMEMBERED, EXPLOSION IN MARINA WHERE REMEY GOT A SPLINTER IN HIS POSTERIOR AND HOSPITAL SCENE WHERE HE'S LAY ON BED TYPING RESIGNATION WITH TYPEWRITER ON THE FLOOR

Elsewhere on Amazon you will see that someone says that "Sea of Love"  Sea Of Love [DVD] [1990 ]has the best stand up love scene ever. Well, The Big easy has the best ever love scene. Both contain Ellen Barkin.That aside (and that is not the reason for either buying the DVD or the 5 star review)the Big easy is indeed a film to see again and again. The story is simple, but set against the Cajun bagdrop and with a great soundtrack, it makes for really good, enjoyable viewing. Quaid does a good job of putting a lovable character on screen and Barkin is eminently watchable, even if out-acted by Quaid. I was lucky enough to buy this when the final scene was still on the disc and I can confirm that, without it, the film loses direction.

Louisianna outing for Quaid, Birkin and a young looking Goodman. A saga of police procedure, corruption and romantic dalliance. Ellen Birkin gives another great performance as the woman sent to investigate corruption within police workings she finds herself involved in a nasty set of 'goings on' with the less than sqeaky clean Quaid in tow. enjoyable fare.

Arrived in good condition and, although the film is date as is it an older film, it was enjoyable.

As another person said, the DVD is Dutch with all the writing in Dutch. It also has Dutch subtitles as its default setting though you can go through your settings to change this .. The worse thing though was it kept freezing @ chapter 7 and despite cleaning the disc it continued to freeze. Also tried on another DVDs player and still froze @ chapter 7.. Now been returned and awaiting a refund. Upto the point I could watch the film I hadn't noticed any real difference between this "uncensored" version and the original
