That old light worked pretty well but really it was a spotlight and I'd always have to angle it down and run it on the lowest setting to avoid casting too much glare to oncoming traffic/people, and the battery life (a 6-pack of rechargeable AA's sealed together) was only about 2hrs on the lowest brightness setting. Anyway, there was no retainer for the cable where it went into the body and the stress of that eventually broke the solder joints inside. I began searching and settled on the Raveman 1200 saw reviews saying the battery life was "a few hours". So far I have been very impressed with it. It is solidly constructed, the mounting is great (comes with a C-clamp style band to wrap around your handlebar with an additional padding piece if you have smaller bars) and I really like the readout on it that tells you the remaining time. My favorite feature I think is the low-beam (they call it the "road-biking mode") because it casts a nice wide beam with a upper cutoff similar to an automotive style headlight. This means you get just enough glare cast upward to illuminate reflective signs but not so much that you cause issues for oncoming drivers...just like a car's headlights. The high-beam (they call it "mtn-biking mode") is also incredibly bright. Compared to my old light (which had like 12 CREE LEDs in a circle and was really bright) this thing seems even brighter. I haven't actually found much use for the high-beam since I set my light pointing slightly down and that means the bulk of the light from the high-beam points into the ground 50' or so in front of me and it's almost too bright. I am still impressed that even on the brightest setting it still estimates 90 minutes of battery. I find myself using the lowest (I think 200 lumen) setting for the low-beam almost all the time. I have not tried the remote button yet that lets you change the brightness without leaving your grips, nor the USB charging feature. In my experience, running on the low setting for the low-beam it regularly estimates I'll get ~20hrs of battery life, which I think is incredible. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works very well *by R***Z on June 8, 2022* It's a solid bike light, great for roads but might want to consider bigger ones if doing single track or deep gravel. lightweight enough to keep a backup and I kinda wish it charged via USB-C instead of micro-usb. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works as advertised.
