I tried a full size quilt but it was too small to keep us warm on cold nights. Because this Pendleton blanket is made of 100% natural wool and most importantly is machine washable AND dryable AND the queen size DOES fit in my washer, I wanted to try it, despite the price. It washed well, gentle, cold; and I used fabric softener for the final extra rinse. It dried very well as follows: 20 min delicate, 20 min air fluff, 20 min delicate again and 20 min air fluff again. It was still slightly damp so I air dried it on two big hangers till fully dry. Note: When wet in the washer it had a strong, fairly unpleasant odor THAT COMPLETELY DISAPPEARED WHEN DRY. It did NOT shrink in the dryer. It is not too heavy to physically handle. It is not super soft after one wash and dry; but is not terribly coarse either. Best of all, it fits our bed well and keeps us warm and very comfortable during cold winter nights. I'm very glad to have this. It is the first wool blanket I have ever bought; and I only bought it because it could be machine washed AND dried.
