Great quality gasket replacement for Kamado Jo.
Great and better quality replacement than the old felt type gaskets. I was able to replace only the bottom gasket and it does not leak smoke at all. It’s slightly puffy so when the heavy top lid sits on it, it provides a nice seal.

Easy to install. Works great.
I bought a used Kamado Joe Big Joe that badly needed a new gasket. I spent a bit of time scraping the remnants of the old gasket off with a few different tools. A razor blade scraper worked best. Cleaned the bare surface up with acetone. I think the adhesive on the gasket would have worked fine on its own, but I applied a bead of high temp silicone to insure a proper bond. Kept it closed and undisturbed for 24 hours and it has worked great.

How to apply your gasket - my experience
Just installed - here is how I did it after watching various videos and reading reviews. Do this no less than 24 hours prior to firing your grill, it will need time to set. Tools needed: Scissors Acetone Nitrile gloves Putty knife or similar - metal preferred Scotch or similar Brillo combo yellow/green type sponge Old rag Paper towels Old wire type scraper First remove the old gasket with a putty knife. Use the old wire brush or wire grill scraper to remove gasket fragments that you can while dry. Then put on nitrile gloves and soak the sponge in acetone, pouring from its can. Rub the rim of your ceramic grill over the remaining gasket, trying to soak the remaining gasket residue adhesive. This may require many applications as the acetone can dry quickly. While wet scrape with the old wire brush/scraper, being careful not to damage your ceramic rim. Use the paper towels to wipe off the old adhesive. You may also need to use the scotch Brillo type sponge to remove residue. Redo procedure as required until satisfied. Finally wipe rim with paper towels until dry or no residue until satisfied. Before applying gasket, ensure rim is completely dry waiting sufficient time. Application: Note, there are two small pieces of tape for the ending gaps (top and bottom rim) included to seal the final gap. Remove a small portion of adhesive paper from the gasket. Apply one of the small pieces of gap tape “crosswise” on the end of the gasket. Later you will roll it around the gasket ends where they meet. Then without pulling on the gasket, slowly proceed to apply the gasket by removing the adhesive AS YOU PROGRESS around the rim. Press it down firmly. Again do not pull or stretch the gasket! Once you get near (5”) the original section previously applied, continue towards it, but do not remove any additional adhesive. Continue and complete the full circumference and note where to cut the gasket material. Allow to overlap 1/4” then cut the gasket. Then slowly continue to apply the remaining gasket and cut to fit. Roll the end “crosswise” sealing tape around the gasket. Press down on the gasket to ensure applied well. Pressing and sliding hand over the gasket once applied. Do the other rim likewise. Close the grill and allow to set for at least 24 HOURS, from what I’d read elsewhere. After my application it appears to be remaining applied correctly altho I have yet to fire up my grill.

Works but.....
Worked good easy to install, but the one for the chimney cap is slightly smaller than the original. It doesnt leak smoke but the entire cap slides around.

Works better than the original
Works exactly as advertised. Very substantial and expect it to be long lasting. I have a 10-year Kamado Joe with the old felt lining that eventually disintegrated. Replaced it with this and the seal is so much better. No issue with the lid closing the same. Highly recommend.

Definite upgrade from felt.
My original (pre-classic) Kamado Joe had a felt gasket. This seems to provide a much better seal. The tubular shape compresses to provide a slightly springy effect (full and complete contact) to the gaskets when loaded under the full weight of the lid. A suggestion for even contact all around the gasket: loosen the hoop clamps around both the lid and base, then retighten. The lid will shift slightly to find a comfortable "home" with even contact pressure around the full circumference of the seal.

Bought this for my Kamado Joe. Really excellent replacement and easy to install. I bought some additional adhesive for safety and I’d advise you the same. There is something about using only a 3M-style adhesive in this situation that does not seem solid. The heat hold in the smoker has improved significantly and the smoke level at the lid opening has disappeared! The material is easy to cut with good, sharp scissors and they provide plenty to ensure it fits right the first time. Highly recommend!

Good quality. Really adheres well to the ceramic so long as you clean the surface well. I used some tin snips to cut to length after removing the old gasket on my XL Louisiana (same size as XL green egg) ceramic grill. The entire job took about 20 minutes. I really like how soft the lid closes now!

Cette bande isolante est identique à celle offert par Kamado et inclus deux rubans-joint. De plus, il y en a suffisamment pour faire une seconde réparation.

Large size fits Pitboss Kamado perfectly. Much better than original seal. Adhesive works well. Fitted the gaskets and left lid closed for 12 hrs then did 2 heat cycles to 200c over 24 hrs. No silicon adhesive needed.
