The first time I used it, it produced smoke. Is this normal?

First time I used it there was a little smoke as well. Didn’t happen after that though. It still works fine.

Why does the indicator light go off during use?

I would assume because it made it to the temp that the knob is set too. It co.es back on once the temp changes. I believe that's how the temp stays regulated.

How do i clean the pot?

The best way to clean the pot and remove wax is with rubbing alcohol. Empty the pot out, pour a little alcohol in and wipe with a paper towel this will also help remove the scent from the previous melt.

Can this be used to pour wax seals for stamping envelopes or does it get too hot?

I am not sure, but there is a low setting that works well for low temp things. I would think that the cup is too big for that, but I don't know much about that part.
