Rear Seat Release for 2009–2025 Ford F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450 & Raptor – SuperCab & SuperCrew - The Original, Made in USA

This handy gadget makes you wonder why Ford doesn't just add this to their truck from the factory. There is a latch that allows the rear driver side rear seat back to be pulled forward but no easy way to get to it, this solves that issue. Granted, there isn't a ton of room back there, but there's enough to store a tool kit or similar items. The installation is pretty straight forward and can be done quickly using basically just one tool. The trickiest part is initially finding and pulling up on the latch pin so you can put the seat back down to install this item. The end of the latch pin is on the right hand side of the latch mechanism facing the rear passenger door (circled in red in the attached picture). Don't try and look for it on the left hand side of the latch. Once you locate and pull up on the latch pin using the closed end of any smaller wrench (I used a 10mm but you can use pretty much any size) the rest is easy. You remove the two factory torx bolts holding down the latch assembly, attach the supplied strap to the pin, install the frame of this item over the factory latch mechanism, put the latch assembly back in it's spot and reinstall the bolts. That's it. It's important to remember that this item goes on top of the existing latch mechanism not under it. There is a long notch that allows you to slide the frame over the factory latch. The fin looking portion of this item butts up close to the end of the pin so the strap doesn't slide off the end. The materials are sturdy and of high quality. Pretty simple concept but a great addition to your truck.

Well built, easy to install and works as advertised, lowers your truck rear seat back with ease, car manufacturers should have made these trucks with this simple feature cause you do free up some storage space. Well Done BuiltRight, Thank You!!

This works great, has great build quality, and was easy to install. I wouldn't recommend this for your F150 if you have the B&O sound system; the amp and speaker behind the seat make the space mostly unusable for storage.

There’s a strap with a hook on it, a small steel bracket, and a T30 Torx wrench. Doesn’t seem like you get a whole lot for $35. I bought this item out of curiosity. I won’t say I’m disappointed, but I can’t say I’m blown away either. Installation was quite simple thanks to the YouTube tutorial. The product does exactly what it’s meant to do. I get to let down my rear seat backs, and have access to more useable space in my truck’s cabin. Function is not exactly as smooth as advertised. I had to add some masking tape to beef up the latch so that it will activate the hook. I have to really slam the seat back into place to get it to lock securely. As a mater of fact, I also have to hold the seat belt out to keep the restraint from locking in place as I attempt to secure the seat back. Long story short: this item is a novelty, and not a necessity. I won’t use the newly accessible space regularly, but it’s nice to know it will be available for unforeseen circumstances. Is it worth the $35 I paid? Well, that remains to be seen. I think $10 would have been a more fair price for this item, but when you’re a tinkerer at heart…

This fit my 2018 Ford F150 perfectly. It designed well and works very well. The back seat has always been a problem to lower the back, it is now a simple pull of this device and it unlocks. It is easy to install i would recommend this product.

Works great. Fit is very well. Instructions were easy to follow. Easy to install. No extra drilling or tools needed. Now I can access behind that seat easily.

I just purchased a new 2024 F-150. As is my wont, the new truck got a lot of new toys: Tonneau cover, corner bed step, jumper cables, toolboxes etc. Potential for additional storage space for flattish stuff offered by this simple, clever Builtright Industries rear seat release, magically freeing two seat back's worth of storage for only $35 was an easy choice... or so I thought. Watching the install videos, the release seemed so easy to install, it was a no brainer. So, when it arrived today, I immediately went out to the truck, Torx set in hand and installed it. It was as easy as promised. Tested it a few times before locking the seat back in position, then pulled the fabric loop and... NOTHING! the seat was locked firmly in place! No matter how hard I yanked, the seat remained immobile. Under my breath I said things about the folks at Builtright that would have made a sailor blush... how the heck was I ever going to release the seat so I could return this obviously defective device for a refund. I pulled and yanked and even put the wrench through the fabric loop to exert more force. It was only then that I realized that I was pulling the factory installed child seat retainer. The seat release loop was just to the right of that. A gentle pull and the seat back released its death grip and leaned down. To the folks at Builtright, please accept my sincere apologies for the terrible things I said about you while struggling to remove the child seat securement loop. Your product worked EXACTLY as advertised, and provided convenient storage for a portfolio full of targets. If you aren't sure about buying this, do it. Ten minute install and works as advertised. To the person in the comment section that said buy the Chinese knock off for less, shame on you. These folks developed something good and make it in the USA, creating jobs and supporting manufacturing here. Offshoring manufacturing has hurt our country. China doesn't respect our intellectual property. Create jobs here and support our country by buying USA made products whenever possible. Now, the little trick. Don't pull on the baby seat retainer. No matter how hard you do, the seat won't come down.

Just to be clear this looks like a well build quality item but it didn't work for my truck because the fasteners and the mechanic part are not on the same side. That's it didn't work. I made sure like all my purchases it said it was eligible for return but this one was different I had to have it authorized by the seller. Then I have to pay the postage back into the States (I'm in Canada) so there would be customer then I had to pay a min 20% restocking fee or maybe 50% or maybe no refund depending on what they decide. None of that is disclosed when purchasing it. Im not going to spend more to return it it will go in the garbage and I will avoid this seller and contact customer service.
