Review: I read this book in one sitting! First, I have to say that after reading the book, I feel a deep admiration for the author; every single page is the reflection of someone who genuinely cares about others. The testimonials throughout the book encourages you to leave your social fears behind and do it! In a couple of months, I'll be moving to a different country and I can't wait to host my cocktail party! Review: I heard about the book from my son. It was a GREAT read and VERY helpful! The website tied to the book also has great helps. My wife and I recently moved to a new part of the country and wanted to meet people, so we threw this party. It went really well. I couldn't believe all the conversations happening at the beginning of the party. It was awesome to see. Everyone seem to have a great time, the ice breakers went well, and we got to talk with 6 people we had never met before and made some great connections. I shared this book with a group of about 40 colleagues at a conference I attended in August. Since then, some have told me they bought the book and are excited to try it. I highly recommend it for people wanting to meet people. So many people in America today are isolated and want to meet others with a face-to-face interaction. This book helps you do that and helps others as well. Great job, Nick!

(I used my wife’s prime account to buy this book and it’s the best purchase I’ve made to date!) So I first heard about Nick and his book from the hugely popular business podcast My First Million. Nick is close friends with Sam Parr one of the hosts and founder of the (acquired) Hustle and Hampton. Nick has been coined the Friend Billionaire by an actual billionaire (Andrew Wilkinson, Tinyco) and I can see why. He is easy to relate to, we’re both naturally introverted, dislike the transactional nature of networking, but still want to have loose connections with people who we can be friends with, share common interests with, or who might be the person who connects us to a new business opportunity, partnership or career path. It’s hard for me to have time to make friends, being in my mid-30s, working 12 hour shifts, owning a b2b moving company, and spending time with my 3 year old and amazing wife who also works part-time. The friends I do run into at the gym are just like me! Working during the week and reserving the week-end for the family! Our priorities naturally line up with; Kids, work, wife and then being a hermit the rest of time. It’s not at the risk of us not wanting friendships and relationships- it’s just hard to actually spend time to create/reconnect and have friendships and relationships. After reading this book, I’m taking action and using the momentum Nick’s words have given me to start planning my first 2 hour cock tail party! Looking forward to reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones! Warning!! This book is well-written, easy to digest, but HARD to put down!! I’ve put a ton of notes, post-it’s and highlighted all the useful tidbits Nick has put together in there. And don’t worry! The master appendix in the back will give you a cheat sheet/good structure in the planning and actual phases of the party. -Derek from Vancouver, Canada. Ps. Check Nick out on Twitter! He has tons of interesting content and responds to DMs!

I'd never hosted a cocktail party prior to reading the book. It seemed overwhelming and, to be honest, scary. But I decided to give the book a try. And it turned out to be a total success. Everyone enjoyed it and wanted to be invited to the next one. Since then I have hosted three parties and it has already become a tradition of mine. While reading the book you might question advices that are being given (like using a harmonica or doing ice breakers). They might even look childish. But they work and they work perfectly. So I incourage you to try everything the book says on your first party and then make adjustments if necessary.

This is such a perfectly simple (simple in a GREAT way) guide for where to begin if you want to plan small, easy, fun events that will help connect the people in your life. I am an event planner both by profession and in my personal life and so while I do already consider myself a pretty seasoned party host, I still picked up several new ideas and tips from this book that I'll definitely be stealing! In particular the advice and tips around the power of nametags and establishing a strong (and timely) ending to your event are so helpful as thats definitely something I've always struggled with. FANTASTIC BOOK - read now! You won't be disappointed.
