Johnny Appleseed: The Classic Read-Aloud Folktale About an American Legend for Kids (Ages 4-8)

Great story and nice illustrations! A great book to give as a gift!

The art in this book was very engaging and I love that it wasn't too wordy. I find when reading a picture book out loud, many children can not hold their attention long enough on each page to read a ton of text...perhaps because the picture also offers so much information that the text along with an image can be overload. This book had just the right amount of text and the images offered a ton of information but not in an overwhelming way. This was a delight to read to two rowdy 8 year old boys...but would be delightful with any age or gender.

I've had this book since I was little and now at 27 I bought a new copy for my future niece/nephew. It's easy to follow and has amazing illustrations. I love all the books by this author as well about tall tales. The book itself is also sturdy and well put together.

Johnny Appleseed is a legend who captures the imagination. Few books, however, exist on this man who has become almost a myth. I know, because after reading this book I tried to find a more in depth "grownup" book that would tell me more about this man. I couldn't find one. In the pursuit I've read internet accounts and other children's books, but nothing I've yet found is as comprehensive or alluring as this account of John Chapman's life. Steven Kellogg does an amazing job incorporating facts and myth into a compelling story. His pictures are rich with detail and add to the mystique. The kid I nanny loves this book and all of the adventures that Johnny Appleseed went on. I love this book enough that I gave it to a friend for her baby shower. I wanted her to discover the wonder of this man as she read it over and over again with her son.

I love these Tall Tales by Steven Kellogg. The stories are so much fun and the illustrations are wonderful and creative. The Johnny Appleseed story included fact and myths and the beautiful and interesting drawings. I have bought several of Steven Kellogg's books for my grandchildren and I am sure they are going to enjoy this one also.

This is good to use with a unit about Johnny Applebee's for elementary students.

I bought this book, which has been my favorite version of Johnny Appleseed for a long time, for an activity for our grandchildren during the bad weather days during Thanksgiving. We didn't get to do the activity because of lack of time (too many activities were planned). So, I'm saving it for a later date. I LOVE this book!

Zum Englischlernen und zum Kennenlernen von Kultur und Geschichte der USA für unsere Kinder gedacht und wirklich empfehlenswert. Übrigens Johnny Appleseed lebte tatsächlich.

bought this for my 3 year old grandson and he loves it! Must be read every bedtime and through the day {if time allows} even took it on holday to the Scottish islands {he lives in Edinburgh}.A wonderful story.thourghly recomend for any child.
