Effortlessly play DVD movies, burn custom discs, digitize physical music and video collections into MP3/MP4, restore classic software, and archive essential files without complicated setups. (Note: Supports all common CD/DVD formats; Blu-ray & 4K discs are NOT supported.) - 【As Simple as an Internal Optical Drive】No driver installation or complicated setup required! Just plug the USB 3.0 data cable into your computer directly or a self-powered USB hub, and it will be recognized automatically (on Mac, a disc icon appears on the desktop once a disc is inserted). You can then use your preferred software to read, burn, or rip discs easily, just like using an internal optical drive. (Scroll down for detailed setup guide and recommended software.) - 【Powered by USB 3.0 High Speed】Enhanced USB 3.0 not only delivers ultra-fast data transfers up to 5 Gbps (625MB/s) — 10× faster than USB 2.0 — with DVD 8X and CD 24X maximum read/write speeds, but also ensures smooth, stable, and reliable operation with strong error correction, minimal noise, and long-lasting durability. For modern ultra-slim laptops with only USB-C ports, a USB 3.0 to USB-C adapter is included, allowing seamless and hassle-free connection with most computers, old and new - 【Wide Compatibility & Notes】This ROOFULL external DVD drive works with a wide range of systems, including Windows (11/10/8.1/7/Vista/XP), Linux, and macOS 10.16 and above. It’s perfect for laptops, desktops, and all-in-one computers from major brands like HP, Dell, Lenovo, ASUS, and Apple MacBook Pro/Air/iMac. (Note: It is NOT compatible with Chromebooks/ChromeOS, smartphones, tablets, iPads, TVs, cars, projectors, gaming consoles like PS4/5/Xbox, or Blu-ray/4K discs.) - 【Compact, Portable & Gift-Ready】This slim and lightweight external CD/DVD drive is easy to carry—perfect for use at home, in the office, or on the go. It includes a durable, padded carrying case that protects the drive from dust, water, and accidental drops. Ideal for anyone who still enjoys CDs and DVDs, it also makes a thoughtful gift for collectors and media enthusiasts. - 【2-Year Warranty & Worry-free Purchase】 Since 2015, ROOFULL has specialized in reliable external optical drives for 11 years. Built with brand-new parts and anti-interference tech, our drives ensure quiet, smooth operation. Every unit includes 2 years of service. If you need any assistance, please message us for: ① Patient Support: One-on-one guidance or troubleshooting for disc playback. ② Direct Resolution: A brand-new replacement or complete financial reimbursement, without the need to return the old one. - 【Best Thing to Know Before Buying】① On Mac, the tray button won’t eject the disc after playing or burning due to macOS restrictions. Right-click the disc icon on the desktop and select "Eject," or use "File" > "Eject." ② If the disc icon doesn't appear on your Mac desktop, please go to "Finder" > "Settings" (or "Preferences") > "General" and ensure "External disks" is checked to allow it to display. ③ Plug-and-play means no driver needed, but you must install proper software before playing or burning discs. ④ For desktop PCs, if the drive doesn’t work properly, please test a rear USB port for better power supply. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B071LGWVSL | | Additional Features | Come with Protective Case, High Speed USB 3.0, Longer Working Lifespan, Plug & Play, Slim & Portable | | Best Sellers Rank | #11 in External CD & DVD Drives | | Brand | ROOFULL | | Built-In Media | External CD/DVD Drive | | Cache Memory Installed Size | 2 | | Color | Black | | Compatible Devices | Laptop, Desktop, All-in-One PC | | Connectivity Technology | USB | | Customer Package Type | Storage Carrying Case and Box | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 out of 5 stars 25,054 Reviews | | Data Transfer Rate | 625 megabytes_per_second | | Enclosure Material | Aluminum, Plastic | | Form Factor | External | | Hardware Interface | USB 3.0 Type A, USB Type C | | Hardware Platform | All in One PC, Laptop, PC | | Item Dimensions L x W x H | 5.87"L x 5.75"W x 0.63"H | | Item Highlight | Portable CD DVD Player Burner Reader Writer ROM +/-RW Optical Drive for PC Desktop MacBook, Windows 11/10/8/7 Mac Linux OS | | Item Weight | 0.3 kg | | Manufacturer | ROOFULL | | Media Speed | DVD 11.04 / CD 3.6 megabytes_per_second | | Mfr Part Number | ECD819-SU3-BB | | Model Number | ECD819-SU3-BB | | Operating System | Linux, Mac OS X 10.0 Cheetah, OS X 10.10 Yosemite, Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows Vista, Windows XP | | Optical Storage Read Speed | Max 24xCD / 8xDVD | | Optical Storage Write Speed | Max 24xCD / 8xDVD | | Read Speed | 24 x | | Special Feature | Come with Protective Case, High Speed USB 3.0, Longer Working Lifespan, Plug & Play, Slim & Portable Special Feature Come with Protective Case, High Speed USB 3.0, Longer Working Lifespan, Plug & Play, Slim & Portable See more | | Unit Count | 1 Count | | Warranty Description | 24 month warranty | ## Product Details - **Brand:** ROOFULL - **Hardware Interface:** USB 3.0 Type A, USB Type C - **Optical Storage Read Speed:** Max 24xCD / 8xDVD - **Optical Storage Write Speed:** Max 24xCD / 8xDVD ## Images ![External CD DVD Drive for Laptop with Carrying Case, USB 3.0 Type-C - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61fGY+VPxOL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Size** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: I have purchased external cd/dvd drives, but they won't work with movies and projectors, I get video but no audio? They all say "enjoy movies" but no.** A: Not sure if this is your problem, but it says in the details...fine print, that this unit does not play Blu-ray DVDs. It was the deal breaker for me. If I am buying an external drive, it is going to need to do it all. 10 dollars either way is not worth any limitations **Q: unit won't turn on. I have hp laptop with windows 8. it's recognized as D drive but won't run.???** A: Hi, could you send message to us: support@roofull.com There may be some common problem when we use external devices, such as dvd drive or hard drive, it should be fixed by some methods. I am a customer just like you and can say that the ROOFULL USB 3.0 External CD DVD Drive that I received was brand new. It comes with a protective carrying case and both the CD DVD Drive and the protective case were inside another zip-lock protective covering. On the outside zip-lock bag it clearly states that the external CD DVD Drive is new. I was really impressed with how securely it was packed. It is performing excellently. Hope this helps you in making your decision.
