There is a ~3.5 mm x ~3.5mm square opening in the end of the shaft. The diagonal measurement across this opening is ~5mm. The crankshaft is ~55mm long, and the handle offset is ~50mm. It is pricier than other keys on the market but it is really good for people with arthritic hands or carpel tunnel. The knob itself is unfinished wood, I guess that is so you can stain it to match your clock.
