Best portable productivity laptop
I bought the original LG Gram 17 back in 2019 and loved it. I didn't really need the upgrade as the old one was still great, but I like to upgrade and sell my old laptops/phones while they still have value. I hate working on small screens when I travel or work out of my office. Nothing else really comes close to the Gram 17 as most 17" laptops are gaming monstrosities with 16:9 screens. This is still the best portable laptop for productivity by far in my mind. - Beautiful 16:10 17 inch screen at a sane resolution - Plenty fast enough for what I do - Super light I had a lot of problems with the wifi when I first set it up and I'm not sure if that was a Windows 11 or network adapter issue. Luckily I had a USB wifi dongle handy and after some driver updates and troubleshooting it's solid now. Battery life could always be better but it's decent for such a large screen. I wish laptop manufacturers would stop the lies with "12.5 hours of nonstop power and get up to 19.5 hours of video playback". Lol, who are you trying to kid? I get about 6hrs at 50% brightness mostly working within chrome including google sheets (which is admittedly a drain). I can't speak to the keyboard and trackpad as I'm always using it with a roost laptop stand and BT keyboard and mouse. I'm waiting for the day someone makes just a big portable (perhaps foldable) screen with an inbuilt stand so I can sit it at eye level and use an external mouse and kb. Until then I'll be using an LG Gram 17.

Fantastic Computer (1 year use review) - unreliable seller
The computer is fantastic. It's very lightweight and easy to carry around our three-story house. The larger screen is very clear and great for other family members with bad eyesight. The keyboard is very readable, and I enjoy the fact that its larger size also means I have a number pad. I've had it for over a year now, and it has held up to a lot of abuse so far. It still looks good as new and works just as well as the day I got it. It was also easy to set up. As it is my personal laptop, I don't use it for anything too over the top. I've played games like Stardew Valley on it with no problem. My father, whom I also bought this laptop for, is easily able to see and use Excel with no problem. His use of Excel includes large data tables in his daily life, which gives the big screen a lot of use for him, making it easier for him to work and enjoy it. We've noticed very few delays or issues, and our uses of this laptop have been very different. If I had even one negative thing to say, I would tell you that the speakers aren't spectacular. That's nothing a suitable Bluetooth device can't solve for you, and that's not what I bought it for. Also, like every other laptop, it's better to use it on a flat surface, but your lap is also just fine. My real problem is with whoever was responsible for shipping me this laptop. A year ago, when I bought the two laptops for my father and me on a deal, I had no problem. They came when they said they would and were in perfect condition. A couple of months ago, when my mom was looking for a change, I immediately set off to get her this laptop since my dad and I had had such success with it. It arrived a week before it said it would, which should have been my first red flag. It also looked different from the packaging; it was an LG gram but darker in color. I didn't think much of it; I'm not the most computer-savvy, and I was just happy to get my mom a computer she could use. Turns out it was touchscreen. You may see where this is going. Well, I didn't. I thought that was different, but maybe I accidentally bought the newest model. I checked this listing and realized it was the same, but my mom was happy so I did not pursue it further. The next day, we found that it would not charge and that the computer kept burning out chargers. It would kill chargers so it became unchargable and cost us money on things we could use to charge it! I was very upset. So I decided to look into it more. The serial number on the laptop they sent me did not match the one I had or was supposed to have bought. That's right, amazon sent me a different model. I reported the issue when I could, repackaged the computer as safely as possible, and sent it back while waiting for my refund. I explained the situation in my message back to them in their form. They still kept $300 of my initial purchase as a restock fee. I didn't fight it at the time because I didn't even know that was an option. Let my experience be a lesson to anyone buying electronic devices, make a habit to double check serial numbers when you receive your item, and don't ignore obvious differences like I did, lest you should be out money like I was. It's a great computer. But I'm not sure I can ever trust Amazon to buy from here again.

This is the laptop you really want
2023: I love everything about it ... except Windows 11. Sept. 2025: Sticky key issue. Still loving it. Use it heavily every day for research and writing. Still going strong. Sound is weak, but I enhance it with a quality bluetooth speaker, and that provides excellent sound. Usually I listen with headset, and that also is excellent. October 2025: Wifi card has gone glitchy. Time to take it to the computer wiz for sticky key and new wifi card.

Wondering why this computer is not the top seller laptop...
This is the second time I have bought an LG Gram laptop after my most satisfying experience with the 2016 15" version of it - no problem whatsoever and still working fine when plugged in. I am an electronics professional, and this laptop does everything I need except big simulations, where I use corporate mainframe machines. Other than reliability and screen resolution/brightness, the biggest attraction for me has been and still is its lightweight, a most precious quality when moving around and traveling. Most probably, people do not buy this computer as expected because they instinctively associate its lightweight with the idea of a "cheap product"..., which is totally wrong. The lightweight of this product does not come from quality shortcuts but from the choice of a lighter yet mechanically strong material for the chassis, a magnesium alloy, and aluminum for the lid. That explains why the LG Gram computers are more expensive that their cheaper and heavier counterparts made by others. For readers' information, I do not play computer games. Actually, I hate wasting my time on games.
