Has anyone tried these with seal a meal or food saver bags?

Yes I have used vacuum seal bags with FreezeUp, and the 6-cup version works very well. I use rolls of bag material to make bags of whatever size I need, instead of pre-made bags. The 8-inch wide roll fits the 6-cup FreezeUp. You cannot roll the top of the bag down over the box, as shown in the images on the product page, but I used a canning jar funnel to keep the top of the bag open and clean - worked quite well. I cut the material to 10 inches and that leaves plenty of material to get the bag into the vacuum sealer - you need to pay attention to how much you fill the bags to get the right length for your sealer. Bags may come in 8X10-inch size, but I do not have any experience with that. The small FreezeUp needs something less than the 8-inch material, that I have, but it may work well with quart ZipLoc - again, I have no experience there.

Are additional silicone bands available? The band already broke!

Did not have an issue. No need to over stretch.

The gallon size says it has a 6-cup capacity; but last I checked gallons are 16 cups. Could someone please verify the capacity of both sizes?

It holds six cups what you are referring to is in the description and it states CAPACITY: Fits gallon-size plastic food storage bags to hold 6 cups (48 fl oz / 1419 mL) The gallon size part of the description is to tell you which size bags to use I’ve never filled it using measuring cups so I can’t say if it’s 6 cups or more ; but when I’ve used it a lot fits in there and it’s definitely more than a few meal portions.
