Are these sturdy enough to install in ceiling speakers in?

Yes, but I used a thin hard plastic ceiling tile as a backer for extra support. I have two klipsch in ceiling speakers for my atmos channel and there hasn’t been a problem with them installed in these tiles.

How much drop in Db do the tiles absorb?

How much sound a ceiling tile can absorb is measured using a Noise Reduction Coefficient or NRC rating. NRC is measured on a scale that ranges from 0 to 1. An NRC of 0 means that the product absorbs no sound. An NRC of 1 means that the product absorbs all sound. The higher the NRC, the better the product is at soaking up the sound. These 1" thick tiles have a .7 NRC rating. Our 2" thick ceiling tiles have an NRC rating of up to 1.0.

Can you use this on basement ceiling to lessen the noise from upstairs?

Although it is always better to address the noise source from the side that it is coming from, these tiles will help lessen the noise from the floor above.

Are these tiles totally black without any tiny small white spots?

Yes they are totally black. They are not a typical ceiling tile painted black, they are a fiberglass/foam tile. They are excellent for acoustics.
