What exactly steel was it made from?

A few more to note about the steel:

For production of tools BeaverCraft uses special bromium and vanaduim alloyed high-carbon steel with hardness at
a level of 57-58 HRC. We use this steel because it is safer for carvers - even if it bends it does not crack. Because of
higher viscosity it is easy to maintain the edge and lower possibilities to damage it.
What does it mean? All carving tools edges get dull during use. It is reality. So every carving tool requires
stropping and honing. Sharpening is a critical solution in case of serious damage of the edge. But BeaverCraft steel
allows the edge to be easily maintained by honing to return to razor sharp condition. Even if carvers will bend the edge of
BeaverCraft tools it still may be restored by honing (longer and harder, but still honing). It is achieved by higher
viscosity of the steel. Will BeaverCraft edge get dull faster than other tools? No! Because the hardness of tools is 58
HRC, as most other carving tools have.
All BeaverCraft tools pass quality control at production exit. We control form, sharpness, hardness, handle
geometry and appearance.

Can you purchase these individually on Amazon?  If not, why not?

I went back into Amazon and looked and it appears to me that several of these items can be purchased individually. I found several of the knives, the shaping tool and a gouge all available. I'm not sure which tool you are looking for but if you put the brand name, BeaverCraft followed by either whittling or carving tools in the search bar you should be able to find the sets and the individual tools.
