Luminance Red - Proven Cold Sore Device for Pain Relief and Lip Sore Management 1 Count (Pack of 1)

Didn't work for my coldsores at all despite application as soon as I felt the coming up.

I bought this as a gift for my husband. I was a little weary of the cost, since I saw similar products that were less expensive; however I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for and I am happy to report that held true with this purchase. My husband uses this at the first sign of a cold sore and it stops the cold sore from forming.

My experience with this product is truthful and honest. I get cold sores maybe twice a year, once in the fall and then once again in the winter/spring. I have always used acyclovir cream and L-lysine supplements and the cold sore takes a good 7-10 days to go away and then I don’t see them again for months and months. I ordered this product after one was starting to form in mid-February, and I wanted a quicker remedy to heal cold sores. My cold sore was active for 3 days when receiving the light and beginning the treatment. I used it for 3-30 second treatments twice a day everyday and also around other areas of my lips as well. It caused a burn on my cold sore to form and the cold sore did not go away any faster than with my previous treatment. I wanted to believe the product worked, so I kept faithful to the continued therapy and after about 10 days with treatment, it went away and I continued daily treatment on my lips daily like suggested and then a new one formed! I did the same treatment as the first cold sore and it still took 10 days to go away. I continued with the every day treatment to prevent any new ones from forming and again, like clockwork, a 3rd cold sore formed in a month’s time. The first two were on my bottom lip (left side then right side) and the 3rd is on my top lip. I stopped the light therapy after 6 days with the third cold sore and it is still healing and visible. I was too afraid a 4th would form so I wanted to prevent that. Hopefully nothing else forms. In my opinion, this light is activating them and keeping them active for weeks. I miss kissing my son and my husband and couldn’t take anymore so I just returned it and wanted to warn everyone in advance of my experience. Do yourself a favor and see a doctor and get prescribed acyclovir. For someone like me who doesn’t get these often and got 3 in a month, it’s not worth it!

“Gross! You always have sores on your lips,” I heard coming from another student in my 3rd grade class with an accusing finger pointed straight at a cold sore that had broken out that morning. Even though that was years ago I still remember it vividly. This was my introduction to what a life with cold sores was like. Most of my family had gotten them starting at a young age too so it was kind of an accepted thing that it was just the way it was. Before I got the Luminance Red I’d get a cold sore outbreak around every 2-3 months depending on stress, and the summer months actually were worst for me even though I know a lot of people struggle more in the winter. Just like everyone else I’ve tried taking L-lysine and Abreva and different diets. Abreva helps some after the cold sore breaks out but nothing has had as big of an impact as I wanted or helped to prevent breakouts. What pushed me over the edge to buy the Luminance Red was the clinical data and study results that I saw. Both in terms of healing and preventing outbreaks. I actually looked at some of the clinical studies themselves and it all made sense to me. I was thinking, even if I could reduce my outbreaks to once every 6 months it would be worth more than it’s expensive price. To sum it up, its been over 11 months now since I had an outbreak, whoowhooo! When I got it in the mail, I didn’t have an outbreak at the time so I waited to use it until I got one. Looking back I wish I would have started using it immediately for prevention, it might have stopped that outbreak from coming. When the outbreak came, I was ready for action and took pictures each day to document exactly how it worked. I used it 3 times every day, every 8 hours. My cold sores usually last around 8 days but this time they were gone in 3 days. I’ll try to upload pictures to this review so you can see. Since then, I’ve been using it 2 times per week, for 60 seconds to stop them from coming back and it’s been working for 11 months. I have a specific spot on my lower lip where they usually form so that’s the area that I treat with the Luminance Red as a preventive measure. I don’t know how long the Luminance red will keep the outbreaks away but so far I’m really excited about the results. One thing to point out is watch your eyes! The light is VERY bright so I’m always careful to keep it away from my eyes. They say it’s safe but I’d rather not take a chance. I take it with me every time I travel and wish they had some kind of carrying case. I don’t want to take a chance of getting an outbreak by not using it. If you’ve got the money I would suggest getting one. It’s been SO nice not having to deal with cold sores for almost a year now. So thankful for this thing. I get cold sores 3 times a year and they are huge! Its never one, it becomes 5! When I get one its 12 days of healing and a good 6 days I can go out! Honestly the masks have been a life saver for me. On my last outbreak, I bought this, it arrived in two days, ready to go. I already had a massive one in the middle of my bottom lip, I have been get huge ones in the middle of my bottom lip for the past few years. Before it would be one blister and that would be it. It now starts in the middle and it is the size of a pencil eraser! Its a monster! Anyway, this came, the massive on was already massive and a new one was coming as well on day four of the massive one. I used the red light twice before bed, in the morning the new one was a small tiny scab! Great! Next day big one was a scab and slowly getting smaller, 5 days later all gone. Have been using this whenever I feel one coming. Nothing for two months. But, last night felt one and it was already swollen! Did the light 3 times and in the morning it was a tiny scab and I also felt a new one coming, already a little blister. Did the light, and by the end of the day it is also a scab! A tiny scab!!! Totally skipped blister, crust, leaking, scab falling off, new scab, bleeding, creams pills, pain! This is crazy! So happy I found it! I can totally do pin size scab! That is nothing after the monsters I have had! So happy!!! Buy one asap! Save yourself the hell! 100% worth it!!! Updates! Used it on two cold sores. Never got one again. Its been over a year!!! Worth it!!!!

I bought this 5 months ago because I get cold sores 2-3 times a year and wanted to have it on hand when the next one came in because everything with treating cold sores says you MUST treat it at the absolute very first sign. I only bought this because it said it was FDA approved and if you’re anything like me and thought you may have found a way to eliminate cold sores more rapidly you’d pay whatever the cost which is why I was ok spending this much money. My first cold sore came in two weeks ago and I immediately the laser and continued using it multiple times a day. Not only did this do absolutely nothing to minimize the time I had a cold sore, when it finally went away after the usual week timeframe (using Abreva and prescription medication in addition to this) I got a second one in a different location and again tried using the laser as soon as I felt it coming in and again- no distinguishable results. Unfortunately I’m out of the 30 day window so I can’t return it but don’t be like me and get suckered by the hope that there is a real cure for cold sores. Just stick to abreva and medication and save yourself $400.
