Works well and leaves no gaps!
Very easy to open and close. Takes a little bit of force to close because it locks in place when you step on it. Assembly took about an hour and didn’t cause any issues. Light weight and sturdy high grade aluminum material. Length is good for a number of applications, from in house to garage attics. Good product

Decent attic ladder, would buy again but...
The instructions are a bit weak. It comes with the required hardware to mount, including lag bolts and pre-drilled holes to install them. The issue is that in order to have access to most of the pre-drilled holes you have to deploy the ladder. That presents a bit of a problem since the ladder isn't mounted to anything. I assume they included the 3" wood screws to "temporarily" attach the unit so you can deploy the ladder so you have access to the pre-drilled holes for the lag bolts. That's what I did anyway, and it worked. Don't look for instructions to do any of this in the supplied instruction manual though... The other thing I'm not thrilled about is that the hatch door isn't flush with the frame. The hatch door extends down past the frame the thickness of the hatch door which makes trimming it out less than ideal. Mine is in the garage, so I don't really care if it's not perfect, but if it were in my house I would have had to develop a plan on how to make the hatch door flush and have something to attach trim to. Of course without knowing this in advanced would be a problem because I would likely have already have cut out too much sheetrock and then it's kinda too late. I guess what I'm saying is take your time, look over how the assembly is constructed and plan your project before taking out your saw, and don't look for any help from the instructions that come with the unit.

Vague Instructions, Poorly Assembled, Modifications Required.
If you are very handy and very mechanically inclined, and have a good assortment of tools, you will be able to overcome the issues that I faced with my unit. According to Amazon, this is a frequently returned item, so bear in mind, there will be issues. My first issue is the instructions. It looks like maybe a third of the required instructions are there. I almost feel obligated to write a new set of instructions and make a video and send it to these people. They ommit probably two thirds of the necessary directions for a safe installation. My second issue was the fact that this is stapled together. Not a problem, in and of itself, but there's an awful lot of tension in the gas assist struts, causing the end panel to push out as the staples bend. I remedied this by tapping the ends loose enough to squeeze in TiteBond 2 and then reattach with 2 inch screws, with a ratchet strap and wood culls to pull it back into shape. Another issue that makes no sense is that is was assembled wrong from the factory. There's a plastic washer that's supposed to be between two aluminum parts to provide clearance for a rivet and decrease friction between the aluminum components, but it's obviously installed on the wrong side of the bolt. A few of the staples completely missed their mark, plastic washers are missing, the gas charged struts will fail long before springs would, there are rivets exposed on the ceiling side, I could go on. I do not recommend this task for the average do it yourselfer. If you do intend to do this yourself, spend an hour on youtube watching installation videos. It will save you a ton of grief.

Well made attic ladder!
Follow the instructions and you we be very happy! Very well made! Shipping was fast and no box damage. I have a 10.5 foot garage ceiling. That would be the max height or the feet will not retract. Nice hardware and solid unit! I highly recommend this ladder!.

Great ladder holds more weight
We had a wooden pull down attic ladder for 25 years. It started to creak and get little cracks in the legs that made me feel unsafe. I researched this aluminum ladder and it holds more weight then the wooden ones and feels extremely sturdy. It fit right in same opening as the wood one. I love that it has hydraulic hinges, very cool! The only part I thought looked a little cheap is the back board it’s on, is very thin, thankfully only the ladder holds the load going up. Our handyman had to take a, “saws all” to shorten the aluminum legs slightly, then he reapplied the feet. So happy we now have a much safer ladder to the attic. PS, someone wanted to know the width of the actual ladder, it’s 14” wide. No regrets in this purchase.
