Great build quality, remote app and case
I bought FS-150 first and that arrived with a damaged reflector. The way they designed their packaging, it's not a surprise it happened. I then changed my mind and returned the FS-150 because I realized I want to be able to control the color temperature on the same budget. And boy do I like this SmallRig light! Pros: - very pleasantly surprised by the tripod mount in the Smallrig, FS-150 felt flimsy even though this was my first video light ever, and I wasn't even comparing the mount to anything, it just felt cheap. Smallrig's is rock solid. - I couldn't figure out how to use the mobile app for remote control with FS-150, it just wouldn't find the light and I wasn't able to find how to put it into pairing mode on the web. With 120B I was able to do this in minutes and the app works great. Very reliable. It also remotely updated the firmware on 120B on first launch. - The way the carrying case this ships in is padded is a total overkill. No way this would've arrived with the reflector dented in several places like FS-150 did. And it didn't. - I like the Bowens mount latch slightly better on Smallrig. This is a very minor point though. - External power brick makes for a smaller/lighter light, which feels stirdier on a tripod - And of course the ability to regulate color temperature Cons: - Not as bright as the FS-150 at the same price - The fan noise profile is not as pleasant as the FS-150. But unlike FS-150, which has the fan running at all times, regardless of brightness. Smallrig only turns the fan on when necessary. For example it would turn it on for a couple of minutes after running at full brightness for 5 minutes or so and turn it off again a minute or so later. - I use this with an Aputure lantern softbox, but for those who doesn't, the diode surface area is much smaller, so I'd expect this to have a harsher light out of the box without a softbox/diffuser compared to FS-150 or any other light with a diode array.

Great Strone light for my photos, bright and sturdy
This product is great. I was confident in using it based on the description and practicality. I think there are some areas which can be improved but it's too early to tell yet. I will look forward to using in continuously.

For the price. Wow
So I’ve tested this one two shoots this week, 120w may not seem a lot but when you pair it with a goo modifier you can get great results from it. I could have done with the 220w so I didn’t have to push my iso for video that much, but for the price of the 120w I couldn’t pass it up. It does its job well. No flickering. I had it on for hours and didn’t even hear the fan. The only let down about smallrig is the app. It just refuses to work, but I didn’t get this light for the app so I can overlook that. I think I’m going to get a few more for my projects, I love the case it comes with. It’s so convenient, keeps everything packed nicely and safe. It is a little bit plasticky but that’s what you expect from this price point plus it keeps the weight down. The colour accuracy is really good.

Bright, not silent, but definitely not loud like others
The fan can be a little loud, but if you want a bright light, that's the compromise you must accept. Not loud enough to be picked up on a microphone, just don't expect it to be silent. I would have no hesitation to run two of these in a small studio.

Burned itself on set creating a health and safety risk. Avoid.
The light somehow burned itself with a soft box attached which could have been disastrous for the shoot and client. I tried using Smallrig product support to report but their site won’t accept the Amazon order number so thats it, no support available it seems. A 0/10 for product and after sales service Im afriad and I say that as someone who has bought alot from Smallrig but will stick to buying less important items as a result.

Typical Noisy Fan - Not Suitable For Video Work - Good For Photography
All of these 200w plus led video lights have a major issue with fan noise, I suspect they are all a generic Chinese brand that are being rebadged, so I don't want to pick on Smallrig as the Aputures are the same, but this is the light I bought so... They come on and then go off and are too loud if your microphone is within 3 feet of the light. The problem is that there is no curve to the fan, it is either fully on or fully off and switches off and on every few minutes. The light has a massive aluminium heat sink attached with a fan that is quite noisy attached to it (same as the cooling method for a pc cpu), so it has simply borrowed that technology but in the most basic way. If you could have it on continuously but at a lower fan speed, then you would find you could remove the sound in post, but with the intermittent noise that is impossible. The cooling technology for these 200w led lights is just not there yet and won't be until they get better at cooling the lights with a more advanced fan system that is silent and or manageable. Returned this and bought a 100w video light instead which does not have this problem. I have left this with a 3 star review as these are fantastic lights for photography as the fans don't matter in that instance and they punch out enough light to fill a large soft box.
