Work better than my 5w diode laser
I love home much faster it is to cut 3mm base plywood and the engraving is much more crisp. I would like to know what size lens I would need to replace when lens gets burned.

Excellent
Got new laser and it was a flash to install and worked immediately out of the box! Way stronger than the original one and works great!

meh. save your money. fraudulent advertising.
I hooked the 20w laser up as directed and it really isn't doing anything better than the 5.5w laser I got from SainSmart. On some of the tile pieces I engrave, the 20w leaves a shinier patina than the 5w; like the difference between flat paint and semi-gloss. But the 20w isn't engraving deeper, or giving me a better contrast between the engraved and unengraved portions of tile or slate. It IS possible the CNC control board won't supply more power to the 20w head than the 5w head. I tried "overdriving" the output via the laserGRBL program/software, but didn't notice a change in power. What really surprised me, though, was the difference between the 5w and 20w lasers where fine detail is concerned. The SainSmart 5w does much better. There's a bird image I like to engrave, and the feathers come out noticeably better with the 5w than with the 20w head.I might look for another CNC control board that can supply enough power to utilize the 20w laser's full 20w, but, given the lack of fine detail the 20w laser seems to have, it isn't very high on my "to-do" list. I'm not really sure utilizing a different CNC control board would matter.Overall, I am thoroughly unimpressed with this product and rather disappointed.Save your money. This product doesn't have the "punch" advertised.edit: on the booklet that comes with the laser, the front cover specifically says "20watts" when, in actuality, it's 5.5watts. this is bait 'n' switch fraud that Amazon should address.

Good for engraving but not much else
This 20W laser module fails to perform as advertised. It is unable to cut through 5mm plywood as advertised using the guidelines provided, meaning it's likely under-powered. If the manufacturer had offered it up as solely for engraving (and didn't advertise its cutting ability), I'd probably give it 5 stars. But this laser failed to penetrate 5mm of plywood, no matter how many passes I make with it.If you want a cutting laser, get yourself a product that can deliver on its claims and pass on this one.
