Very loud, damaged during shipping - *Edit* Replaced Unit works GREAT
The media could not be loaded. Seems like this unit works really well as far as temperature but the compressor is super loud for mine. It was very damaged around the control panel (right where the compressor is) when it arrived and whenever the control panel turns on, it's super loud. Is this the case for anyone else? Should I try to get an exchange?EDIT 1/19/16 -This unit works very well and is definitely quiet. If your unit is damaged in shipping like mine was, send that sucker back. If it's super loud, send it back. Definitely a solid freezer with plenty of room for food! My fiancé and I just made 22 crock pot meals for us and there is lots of room to spare.

Does its job - keeps food frozen.
I literally live in the middle of nowhere where all the groceries are 3 times more expensive and the closest “big” city is an hour away. So in order to not have to drive so far in winter I decided to purchase this chest freezer and fill it up with frozen food. It came with little scratches (I guess from shipping) and I’m not sure yet if it “eats” lots of electricity but so far it’s been working good and stores lots of products.

Do Not Buy
Worked great when we first bought it but after 11 months the freezer stopped cooling. Being busy with travel and having an infant at home, I did not get around to calling Midea customer service until after the 1 year warranty expired. The customer service rep told me it sounded like the compressor failed and that it was no longer under warranty (even though Amazon's listing says it's covered for 2 years). She emailed me a number of repair shops in the area and I called all of them (plus another 3 I found online). I was unable to find anyone that repairs Midea products in my area. I called Midea customer service again and the next customer service agent asked for my bill of sale / model number, stating she was likely able to help me. I emailed her all the information she requested, twice, with no response. Eventually my emails came back as "undeliverable" even though I made sure the email address for this agent was correct.I've run out of patience for Midea customer service and we are now stuck with a $230 chest freezer than nobody can repair. Based on my experience with Midea customer service and the inability to have this product repaired when it does stop working, I cannot recommend this freezer or brand to anyone. Next time I will buy a brand name freezer at a local store to ensure better customer service / product repair.

I'm glad I read the manual because there are other particulars ...
Per reviews and instructions in the manual I let my freezer's fluids settle for at least 2 hours before plugging it in. After plugging it in I let it sit for another 2 hours to allow it to get to the freezing point. I'm glad I read the manual because there are other particulars worth noting. If your electricity has a blip for less than a minute then you have to unplug your freezer for 2-3 minutes to ensure the compressor will kick back on. Cosmetically my freezer is alright. There are 2 very slight dings. One I noticed pretty soon because it's by the seal of the door, but this doesn't affect its efficiency at all. The other I noticed after over a week of ownership as I was mopping around it. There is a slight ding on one side. But I really don't think any one will notice it at all. Many of the negative reviews that I have read about freezers dying within the first year made me nervous about buying one. I will update this review if any problems occur but otherwise you can be sure my freezer is working well.

Shipping was prompted but the unit was smashed in on all sides. I requested for a replacement which took a week i received another smashed unit but not nearly as bad. I accepted the fact that the packing is on the lighter side and that no shipping carrier can prevent damage. So if you're thinking about purchasing this unit make sure to accept the fact that you're going to get a less than perfect product (because of shipping). The freezer itself is a perfect size and does the job. Super quiet and doesn't take too much space in the garage. For the price i don't mind the damage from the shipping. 4 stars for the product and a -1058845226884 stars for shipping.

Great budget option
I bought the 7 cubic foot version of this chest freezer in 2017 and it's still going strong almost 3 1/2 years later. Admittedly, I wasn't using it for about a year in the middle, so it's only seen about 2 1/2 years of run time so far.It does have minor condensation issues around the door, though it isn't serious so I think it's mostly due to moisture getting in when you open the door. Lately, I've noticed water condensing underneath the freezer, but I think that's my fault - I initially used it in a drier climate so I didn't put the legs on (if there were any, I can't remember anymore) and now I think it just needs a bit of extra clearance above the ground.I don't have a freezer thermometer so I'm not sure how precise it is at holding temperature, but in all the time I've had it I haven't experienced any thawing cycles, so if the temperature is definitely staying below freezing.

Great price, does what it's supposed to do...
This freezer does what it's suppose to -- keeps stuff frozen. It doesn't get much colder than our freezer in our refrigerator, but since it doesn't go through the defrost cycles, you don't see food getting frost build-up from the fluctuating temperatures. It stays right at around 0° F. Sometimes it will get down to -5° F, but usually stays at 0. We keep it in our garage which has a heated floor, but this doesn't seem to affect the temperature of the freezer. It is very light and easy to move. The only "issue" I had was when it arrived the panel that should cover the area where the electrical cord attaches was missing. When I inquired about that, their customer service rep said the panel is intentionally excluded because of problems they had with air circulation around the compressor. The missing panel is in the back near the bottom and it's small, so it's not noticeable when the freezer is against the wall. For the price, this was an excellent buy and I highly recommend this product.
