com as an excellent support service (phone or by chat)
I tried a few USB Bluetooth devices. I got this one because of it's range (328 feet range). Sometimes Bluetooth keys are difficult to install, it was my case with this device, but StarTech.com as an excellent support service (phone or by chat). So I got really good support for the installation and found out it's worth paying a bit more to be able to get this type of support. The item works really good. I did not try it for 328 feet (my house is not that big). Thought I got the feeling the device might work for 328 feet only if there is no interference. I tried the key on a distance of 75 feet with a lot of obstructions (doors, widow, outside my home, etc). If I go 75 feet away in a basement with close doors, the signal tends to fade a bit and cuts a lot, I can still ear most of the music I was listening to, but they are losses in the quality of sound. .I do not know if it was my Bluetooth headphones or the Startech device that created the problem thought (because you have to consider that both systems need to be at the 348 feet level for it to work) . In my case, at 75 feet with obstructions, I consider this to be excellent, because I do not have to go that far anyway. If you have a lot of obstruction and need a bigger distance, you will need to your own tests.

This gadget for half the price if you are a court reporter
If you are a court reporter and writing to your machine bluetooth style, this gadget is for you. I almost paid three times the amount through Stenograph for this piece but saw another court reporter used this instead and it worked perfectly for me. It was easy to install. I have not had a problem with it whatsoever and I even bought two extras just in case I lose mine or break mine.

good distance
We chose this to operate the Logitech mobile boom box. The way it works is this, the longest distance of the portable speaker from the source is supposed to be 50' and the class one dongle 100 meters. You can't expect the best distance if either one is only 10 meters which a lot of these blue tooth devices are. The 2.1 has the longest reach. It works great but through our house and to the second floor we can only reach aprox, 40'. So we are happy but not thrilled. I had a difficult time in trying to research this and finally came across a reviewer who explained it a little. If you want to operate a portable speaker throughout your house you need a class 1 bluetooth adapter with a portable speaker with good range. Of course the operating range is much greater through open space which we haven't tested them yet. So my wife listens to pandora from our PC through out most of our house.

no go
i bought a Bose soundlink mini..works with my samsung galaxy 4 ok. But the speaker wouldnt connect with a brand new HP elitebook running windows 7. so I call Bose, they say to buy the startech adapter. got it today, and the driver software does not work. in fact, now I can't even see the speaker, or evn my printers on the control panel. Very frustrating that I cane listen to an internet radio station with brand new laptop and a brand new Bose speaker. SUCKS
