German Demystified, Premium 3rd Edition (Demystified Language)

I had a friend from Germany and wanted to learn a little German so she could have someone to talk to since she is elderly and didn’t have any German speaking friends in the US to converse with. So far the book is really well sectioned out and it’s really like a little German class wrapped up in a book. It’s easy to understand and lots of great tips including how to sound out the worlds with English comparisons.

I needed a refresher course on German grammar in preparation for an A2 class I was taking and this book completely meets my expectations. It consists of 19 chapters, each short enough to complete in an hour. The chapters progress very logically and the author takes care to use a small pool of words so you can focus on the grammar. I went with the physical book version because I wanted to be able to do the writing exercises and I'm glad that I did. Each chapter has five to nine writing exercises and one final quiz. There is a cumulative test every five chapters. Completing the exercises and checking the answers in the back is a great way to confirm that you understood the material.By the end, you learn about relative pronouns, passive voice, and the subjunctive mood. In fact, this book just about covers everything I can recall learning over four years in high school German. The fact that it can cover that much ground in less than 400 pages is very impressive.The accompanying app was a bit of a disappointment. Someone at McGraw-Hill decided to present the audio files as flash cards, so to hear a list of words you must go through each "card", press play, and then press "Got it!" so that it will move onto the next one. I applaud the attempt to improve upon the classic accompanying CD, but I find this less usable than the traditional approach.

The oral practice and the app are really good for getting used to speaking and pronouncing german sentences. There are written exercises after every new grammar concept that help solidify the grammar you just learned. The book is so big and covers a lot of grammar so it could also help intermediated learners.

Very nice for the price

I've liked all the books from Zwick...this makes the 4th or 5th one. Explanations are clear and he is a genius at creating exercises that really help drill in the grammar. We are using this in a class. The associated Web site is not in place yet.

Product was used for an adult German Class. The accompanying drills available on my iPhone were particularly helpful with German pronunciation.

Dont buy this if you think you are getting audio via Language Lab. it just doesnt work on Android. MgH have not responded to any of the problems notified in Google Play store and the developer's email (at MgH!!) is defunct. Big rubbish. You ain't getting what you oay for

This book is definitely a must have for all German learners. It simplifies everything just like its name says. Most books that teach German grammar have four tables. Masc. Fem. Neuter, Plural and when you look at those tables, you feel like you'll never be able to truly learn German. From early o'clock, this book simplifies these tables by simply showing you Masc & Neuter, Feminine & Plural because in many instances, these are the same so there's absolutely no need to confuse yourself with FOUR tables. The exercises are practical and you feel yourself progressing and the audio is available online. This is altogether awesome. No German learner can regret this purchase.

I’m learning German and have learned French, Spanish and Indonesian. If only I had a book like this to assist me before. With the online facilities this has been incredibly useful. Another member of my conversation group asked me to order one for him too. The exercises with answers are so useful
