This was my first purchase of 'high end' ear buds, and the choices are overwhelming. I didn't want to go into the stratosphere, but wanted something much better than the cheap default ear buds. I also preferred something American made. Being made of wood makes these unique, and they look real good. These head phones can be used with or without the ear hooks. This was one of the key features since I run. The hooks attach to the headphone cord and can be adjusted to the users preferences. The hooks are also very slender and thus are easy to attach to the ear. I've found that many sports buds are fixed with the ear hooks, and are sometimes very difficult to get the right fit. Not with these. The buds come with a variety of ends, but the default ones worked right out of the box. Sound wise you must make sure the bud is completely in your ear in order to get the best base resonance. It is very easy to fit into the ear and requires minimal 'fiddling. I've tried a variety of test songs, metal, jazz, pop and am pleased with the quality. Good depth, very little outside noise and good base. Leaps and bounds better than low end head phones. One of my co-workers has a more beefier, and more expensive set of buds which does have even more base. However it doesn't fit as easily, and has a separate air channel. It also costs more. One minor glitch, my headphones came with both buds with the "L" printed on it. Response was quick and they sent me a new pair pronto. So expect MUCH better than average support if there is a problem.

Four days after having been given these for Christmas, I noticed that the "R" earbud no longer worked. Awesome. Never got to really see if they were any good before that. Wll be returning these and spending the money on Bose earbuds instead.

They sound great! The only thing that seems a bit awkward, is the ear pieces. They are a little uncomfortable, but I'm giving them a chance. These are perfect for the gym.
