Tru-square Metal Products Model A-R12 Rock Tumbler

This thing is amazing. A huge step up from what I had as a kid. It's made really well. The motor isn't loud and the belts aren't wearing at all. It doesn't get very hot. And my rocks come out beautiful.

I bought this for my husband as a Christmas present and he absolutely loves it. The barrel is a wonderful size and is doing a perfect job. The only complaint I have is that some of the parts were bent or dented a bit during shipping. My husband had no problem re-aligning the bent pieces, but I was disappointed that it came slightly damaged.

Took a bit of work to get it to stop brutally squeeking but once I did that it worked great. Solid construction.

My sole use of this tumbler is for cleaning cartridge brass for reloading. You'll notice I say "clean" rather than polish. While the stainless media does get the brass polished it's the clean part that I'm most interested in. After tumbling 10,000 cases I feel I'm ready to review this and I couldn't be more happy. Unlike dry tumbling, using this tumbler with stainless media and a little lemishine + dawn mixed in you get truly CLEAN cases. Yea, your walnut or corn media might get the outside shiny but if you compare the inside (the part that really matters) of the cases there's no contest.For the machine itself... I processed 10k cases in 2 weeks time and had no issues whatsoever. It ran warm as advertised but no hiccups at all. As you should with all machines and tools, keep it properly lubricated and check on belt alignment prior to firing it up. I've run this near it's maximum 12lb capacity quite a bit and there was only one time I had to give the drum a little nudge to get it going. In truth, I was probably over the 12lb limit on that particular run.The drum isn't as big or fancy as the big brother 15lb version but when I bought this from Amazon it was considerably less expensive than that model and I'm not usually tumbling large quantities of brass. If you push it you can easily do 500 pcs of 9mm or 40 in there and I've even done 500 .45's but that was probably more than you SHOULD do. With .223 cases the max you're going to get in there and get good cleaning is about 200-250. Remember to buy yourself a decapping die and pop the primers out before tumbling so you get sparkling clean primer pockets!

I received my A-R12 Thumblers tumbler and it's a big disappointment, the barrel is so thin that you can collapse it with one hand, The lid is a joke, just a 3/16 piece of plastic which will soon be ground thru, also I have to use a butter knife to work it in since there is no removable rubber ring on this barrel, no on/off switch which even my $40 Harbor Freight tumbler has.. Basically this tumbler looks like something you would buy at Harbor Freight for $60 and then an additional $100 is tacked on for the Tumbler Tumblers label. Avoid like the plague.

A wonderful tumbler with a single draw-back. The lid simply does not stand up to the wear and tear created by tumbling rough using coarse grit constantly. I am now on my third lid, the first one having a hole drilled completely through, the second replaced when it got paper thin. If, like me you intend to do a lot of rough you need to be prepared to replace the lid frequently, or go to the sturdier Model B Tumbler. The model B has a metal lid with a rubber liner and so far shows no tendency to wear through. I now use the Model B for coarse and spare the A-R12 for medium and fine tumbling. The model B is much louder, but also has a significantly greater capacity. I intend to do some experimentation to see if I can re-enforce or replace the lid with a more wear resistant material. I think Tru-square should do the same.

Okay it doesn't turn smoothly the rubber rollers are not symmetrical and lid access is cumbersome it should have a screw-on lid with a rubber seal

Runs awesome....not loud at all. The ceiling fan is louder. Well worth the money. We plan on buying a few more.
