Miss Desirable: Mischief in Mayfair--Book Four

More Mischief in Mayfair...the Merrier
This is Book 4 in the "Mischief in Mayfair" series and is my favorite. (I do, however, recommend reading the other 3 to understand the characters who come and go from previous books.) The two main characters, Catherine Fairchild and Monsieur Xavier Fournier, are so very likable, yet they both hide sadnesses and mistakes they have made in their lives. Grace Burrowes knows how to move the plot along with her revelations, descriptions and lively discourse between the characters. And, it was fun to see Sycamore, Ash, Oak, Casriel reappear and help the characters find love and happiness.Apparently there is another "Mischief" book to follow this one. I tried to figure out who the next one might be about. Could it be the Marquess of Tavistock? Anyway, I'm happy more mischief is coming.

Wonderful Story!
Mourning and off balance after the death of her mother, Catherine Fairchild lives a quiet life, away from a society which treated her cruelly due to her irregular origins. A serious error in judgement as a young woman complicates her life and exposes her to a threat of blackmail. Yet when she unexpectedly becomes an heiress, the fortune hunters begin to notice her.A chance meeting with French émigré wine merchant, Xavier Fournier, finds Catherine enjoying an honest, honorable relationship for the first time in her life. However, neither is interested in marriage. Or are they?As is always the case, Ms. Burrowes writes intriguing, well rounded characters who converse in dialog appropriate to the time period, and behave with morals and customs suited to the period. She also weaves in interactions with family members who we have met in previous books. While each book is a standalone story, I highly recommend reading the entire series as they are all wonderful! This book was provided by the author without any requirement for a review, positive or otherwise. All opinions are 100% my own.

Fantastic read!!!!!!!!!!!
Grace Burrowes never miss! The laughter, the tears, the conversation... I absolutely love this book. What a treat! I love the main characters, but I also loved catching up with my favorite family the Dornings. I remember Catherine from a previous book a little bit because of the violet eyes, now I have to go back and read it to make sure. Xavier Fournier and Catherine Fairchild what an amazing couple. I was rooting for them from the get-go. I always thought Fournier was misunderstood from previous books. I love how the other guys like Goddard, McKay and Alasdair became friends with Fournier, I wanted that for him. Sycamore was a given, he’s one of my favorite Dorning. With this story I laughed, cried, and wanted to do violence, to me that’s a sign of a great book. The villain in this book got exactly what he deserved even if there was no bloodshed (lol). Sometimes you can kill someone with the “cut direct”. With this book I have made up my mind about my summer reading list a total re-read of my favorite families, with the Dornings on the top, closely followed by the rogues to riches series, mischief in Mayfair …. I am going to be knee deep in Dukes and Duchess. What fun! Don’t get me started on the Wyndham, so many books so little time.

Fournier is a one of the best heroes yet!
An all too human heroine, a very observant hero, & a slowly building sense of danger & undercurrents make this one of the best. And this author writes seriously good books. Fournier is my favorite yet. Nice cameos by characters from previous series, but very much a standalone.
