NYX PROFESSIONAL MAKEUP Lip Lingerie XXL Matte Liquid Lipstick - Naughty Noir (Black)

Where to start this? A lot to pack in! Generally speaking, because we can't post a separate review for each color that we've tried, NYX XXL Matte is fan-freaking-tastic!! Especially for the price. Is it perfect? Not 100%, but it's darn close. IMHO, the only things that could be improved are the transfer factor (more on that in a minute) and the amount of colors they have. Meaning, they don't have nearly enough! 🤨😁 To clarify what I meant about improving the longevity, immediately I must say this product is actually quite excellent at loving me for a long time! Ha, ha! In the drugstore, it's become tied for my #1 spot. Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink is the almost-identical twin to NYX XXL, but it rates much lower on the performance scale. Maybelline has a ton of colors! The two brands even smell the same. I wish the experience had been the opposite, believe me. Yet, if I could only buy one of the two, without question, it would be NYX! When the colors are fairly equal, (like NYX's Stamina vs. Maybelline's Pioneer or NYX's Deep Mesh vs. Maybelline's Composer, for two examples) there isn't hesitation which to reach for because I know NYX isn't going to embarrass me later in the day. In fact, Stamina lasted overnight! It had faded a little bit in the center of both lips when I got out of bed the next morning, but it was still decidedly visible. And it was only visible on my face, not on the pillowcase! 😲 About the formula, NYX XXL is super pigmented, super creamy, smells utterly delicious (like angel food cupcakes) and has a large, terry-like doe foot applicator. It applies like a dream! The applicator is particularly excellent, makes it very easy to add shape correction, enhancement, whatever effect you might want. Liner is mostly rendered useless unless you have a special need or a specific look you're trying to achieve. I would suggest exfoliating lips prior to use, and also making sure they are hydrated, but not greasy on or around their surface. Afterwards, I find it best to keep my lips open and separated until they fully dry, maybe two or three minutes. Then it's all-day gorgeous! 🪞💄 Longevity has always been my #1 criteria. To provide my personal scale of context, Revlon Limitless Matte has overtaken their Overtime Lip Color (the original) to now tie with NYX XXL for my #1 drugstore spot. Revlon changed their Overtime formula somewhere along the way and it isn't quite as ironclad as it was before. The colors are a little thinner now and it just doesn't have the same "pow-wow." As in, "Pow!" that color looks rich and vivid, or "Wow!" look how it lasts! NYX still needs (a tiny bit of) improvement to be truly100% transfer proof like Overtime *used* to be, but it's damn close, and better than plenty of department store brands that cost 3x as much! Lastly, a note on colors, specifically the reds, because I haven't found the depictions to be totally accurate. Color is very subjective, I know, so please take my interpretations for whatever they may (or may not!) be worth. I would describe Stamina as medium depth, neutral-cool red; not quite as intensely blue as TLB's Bawse Lady, but definitely not warm. Sizzlin' is the same shade only deeper/darker, and Untamable is the neutral-warm answer to Stamina. Not orangey, just not cool-toned. All of these shades are handy depending upon what you're trying to match, and they're all beautiful! 😍

Beautiful color and this really stays on and doesn’t dry out your lips like most mattes. Kiss, water and meal proof!!!!! Better than the more expensive brands and I’ve tried them al!!!

Beautiful color and great hold. Make sure you let it dry completely before eating or drinking anything. The texture is fine, with minimal lip drying. Holds up well to eating, drinking, and kissing.

Do note that the type I bought was not shipped by Amazon. There was a sticker on it to prevent it from being tampered and I guess show it was not used before, but i feel like the lipstick opened too easily, so I’m a bit wary it may have been used before even though it is listed as “New.” But it was half the price compared to the other shades, so you get what you paid for. I honestly did not even get this for the lower price, I genuinely like this shade. Products i have bought before have had similar stickers but were way more difficult to open to the point that you have to peel the sticker off, and I felt more reassured that way. The product itself is fine and in perfect condition. I just won’t be putting the applicator on my lips to salvage some hygiene lol.

I don’t wear lipstick often but this one has changed that! I have three colors. I most recently got Undress’d and Flaunt It when looking for a nude/every day color. I love how it feels, I love how it looks, and it stays on even through dinner. It almost acts a little like a lip stain with how well it stays. It applies really nicely too. I don’t always need a liner. This is a nice, matte lipstick. I also have Push’d Up which is an excellent color for going out. Images show swatches of different shades and different lighting.

This NYX matte liquid lipstick is exactly what I was looking for. Its smooth application does not feel dry or sticky and lasts all day. A little goes a long way and less applications means a lasting product making it well worth the price. The shade is a lovely brick red which is bright but not overwhelming on my olive skin tone. The only thing negative I'd have to say about this product is that it's difficult to remove; but is that even an issue if you want a color to last you the whole party and be able to kiss without transfer?

1. Shipping: I ordered this on March 8th and received it on March 12th with Prime shipping. It was shipped in a box with multiple orders. This is pretty quick, so that was nice. 2. Packaging: The lone lipstick was rolling around like a roller derby girl all by itself in the box with a shipping label on it. I thought this was trashy. No bubble wrap? No little bit of packaging? Just a shipping label I still can't manage to get completely off? Oh well. 3. Appearance: It is the PERFECT shade of black- not dark purple, not blue, not grey. The lipstick itself feels moisturizing and light on my lips, which can be a weak point for most matte liquid lipsticks. It's very opaque- the lipstick you see in my photos was applied with one coat. It blends out very easily for a softer look and will need to set for around 1 minute after applying (you can see in the swatch on my arm it still moves around for up to ~45 seconds). I love how this looks until... 4. Longevity: I wear it. In the photos and video clip, I did not eat or drink. All I did was talk, and it started having visible wear off. Here is why the rating is so low. It's a generous amount of lipstick but I don't have time to stop and continually fix my lipstick because I looked at it wrong when lipsticks like my Rimmel Stay Matte don't budge after eating hot wings and barbeque chips. Also, it takes forever to dry down, meaning that if you do ANYTHING- talk, think too loud, etc. when applying this lipstick it will smudge and stain your skin. It doesn't rub off colour onto any surfaces though- my clothes, someone else, my furniture. When it's dry, it's dry and doesn't transfer. It just... disappears. Where is it going? Who hexed my lipstick? 5. Value: You can see from the size of it compared to my hand it's a very generous size, bigger than all of my other liquid lipsticks. I paid $7.50, which is a very decent price, but I'd only buy it again if they reformulated it to not disappear off my lips and leave the unsightly remains of what was a gorgeous lipstick. Overall, due to the poor packaging and the way it crumbles off my lips only 10 minutes after application, I give it 3 stars. I expected better from Nyx and will have to look elsewhere for my dream matte black liquid lipstick. I might have to raid the Halloween section at Wal-Mart again.

I wore this lipstick for a costume and it held up WAY better than I needed it to. i could not get it off... no matter how hard I tried. I tried rubbing it off with my hand, drinking water, eating, licking my lips, and the color stayed an opaque black. I finally got it off with a make up wipe when I got home hours later.
