Koi Pond Cleaning Vacuum

Pond is easier to get cleaned with the vacuum.

The vacuum is design to be turn off to be drained or it can drain it's self by shutting it's self off with a hose attaches to the base when the drain plug is removed. At the end of the hose is a flap that allows the water to drain out of the unit when it shuts down it also allows the vacuum to suck when running. In other words the vacuum would not have any suction at all without the drain plug in the base or with the flap remove from the hose. Now this sounds like that would be no problem at all. WRONG!! The problem is this. When the unit shuts down the water and the dirt that has been vacuumed but is still in the hose and handle drains back into the pond clouding the water. This problem could be corrected by adding a flap into the nozzle. But since I'm not into the flap business all I have now is a over priced shop vacuum with great suction. I am now turning my old pool filter into my new pond vacuum which I should have done it the first place as I had all the parts laying around anyway.
