RBC MVA Battery-Powered Digital Irrigation Timer with ¾” Actuator to Retrofit & Automate Manual Brass Anti-Siphon Valve - for Sprinkler, Drip Systems

Purchased Feb 2000 to keep pool water at level; lasted 6 years; just stopped working; new batteries didn’t help. HOWEVER, well worth the money since I don’t need an over-the-side pool sentry and I’m not paying $2K to have an autofill installed!! I change the batteries every 6-mos to ensure they don’t fail when it’s running and overflow the pool. Set it for three runs in the middle of the night for 1-3 min each depending on the season and evaporation. I’m in Vegas, so little chance of freezing, but the three night runs will help protect against that in other areas. Getting another one - might try the solar model!!

Pretty good stand alone water timer powered by 2 AA batteries. Alkaline batteries last a long enough time but they recommend using lithium to power it for years.

Bought this as a backup in box unit for a DIG ECO1 solar controller(s) (no longer on website as unit) that is several years old. Solar controllers are still available as replacement parts only, and can be ordered on the DIG replacement part webpage. Programming is less robust than the ECO1, but easy to navigate. Battery operation is convenient. it easily refits to existing control valve.

I've used DIG battery operated valve/controllers for 10+ years. The earlier design worked fine, too, but would usually have some problem after 5+ years or so that required replacement. Typically something with the valve or seal and not the controller would go wrong for me. But there is no competing product to automate a stand-alone single valve that is so simple to use. The latest versions (which have been out a couple of years) work great, too. Now use 2 AA batteries instead of a single 9v. Battery life is said to be longer, but I've not had time to test that. The 9v batteries in the old one lasted a year or two, so it was fine either way. Easy to program and configure. These are indispensable for me with a couple of sprinkler valves that are next to hardscape, would be difficult to integrate into the rest of the sprinkler system controller (which would require running a wire 250+ feet underground most of the way). They work, they are reliable and reasonably durable, good battery life, sufficient programming flexibility, and not too expensive. Great product.

The DIG Corp RBC-MVA Irrigation Timer, Blue is awesome, easy to install, easy to set up timer works well. no need to hardwire. HERE"S THE PROBLEM. IT ONLY LAST FOR ONE YEAR 5 MONTHS. THEN IT STOPS WORKING. this is my 3rd one. I have a hill in my back yard that has no electricity and the area needs to be water regularly.

I have only had this device for a couple of weeks, but once it was installed, which I had done by a plumber because of the pipe involved being a high-pressure pipe and the water needing to be turned off for the house, etc. it is working very well once I got it programmed. The programming is fairly easy, except there are a lot of choices, and the one I missed was how many times in one day it would be releasing water, however, once I got that straightened out which took a couple of cycles, it is working flawlessly. It seems to be very reliable so far and the literature about it seems to say that it will last a long time and the batteries, only two AA batteries that are easy to replace, will last up to three years, although I will change them more often than that. It is extremely helpful for my pool because there is no one to be sure it is filling it properly except me and my weekly pool service, which is not often enough,so I recommend it strongly for pool maintenance and possibly for sprinklers although I’m not using it for that. Hopefully it will keep working like it is now for a long time. I have it set to now automatically put water in the pool through my previously manual water input for 10×3 times weekly for a fairly large pool. This particular device would not work with my older sprinkler valves according to the plumber, so I can’t use it for that, but if I could, I would get more. So far, I think it is well worth the cost.

I bought this 8 months ago. the installation was simple and it works well in ambient light. It is easy to program and operated very well. However after 8 months it began to leak. I could not completely shut off the sprinklers. I tried sh shut off manually but that didn't work. I had to reinstall the manual valve to turn off the water flow. I have purchased 2 types of solar timers and have had the same problem with both. Hope to find one that works and will last more than a few months.
