Hi Beatriz, It is cut for man, but with an athletic build. With the t-shirt lying flat, it measures about 22" side to side just under the sleeve. If you can get a hold of a favorite shirt for whoever you are buying for, measure it the same way. If the person you are buying for wears a large but likes it looser, go a size up.
