PRETTY GOOD OVERALL
We had a professional carpet cleaner do the entire house back in April with fair/good results. The problem is we have a very light-colored (almost white) beige carpet with high traffic area blackish track marks in and out of the den and master bedroom. I tried carpet sprays, I tried powdered carpet cleaners, etc. to no avail, which was why we called the carpet cleaner back in April. So he got most of the high traffic area marks to look maybe 80-90% better, but he did not clean the area against the front of the couch bc he couldn't get the edge of his machine close enough to the couch. He should have just moved the darn couch a foot back like I did a few days ago so he could get to all the carpet. In any event after only three months, we started to see the same dirty high traffic areas reappearing even though we never wear shoes in the house and the carpets in our den and master bedroom looked like they needed a light cleaning again because it was not really 100% when the carpet cleaner finished. He said it was an old carpet and hey what can you do? Rather than have the carpet cleaner come back out for an afternoon with the need to start moving furniture, tables, plants etc. again, I figured why not give this machine a try? It was worth it because this Hoover has done a good job overall, I did need to go over the carpet in the den 2-3 times to get rid of the blackish high traffic areas and did the area in front of the couch three times because the professional carpet cleaner didn't bother to clean there. I asked a family member to look at the entire den when I was done and they said 100% better. It actually looks BETTER than when the professional carpet cleaner cleaned it! This is a 20-year old carpet in a heavily used area and it actually looks really good now. As noted, I had to do the den twice and the black high traffic marks three times, but so what? The bottom line is the carpet looks great now. Overall, I am really impressed with this machine. Everything works the way it says and it is a snap to use. PLUS the suction is so good the carpets are barely damp when done and are dry (at least in our low humidity climate in the desert) within a few hours, even though I used a few full tanks of solution in one room (den). With the clear brush cover you can see all the dirty cleaning solution being sucked back into the dirty water tank as you go over the carpet. I do note that I have to go pretty slow back and forth on both the cleaning and suction strokes in order to let the machine roller clean the carpet and then to allow it to suction out as much liquid as possible, but no big deal, the results are worth it. I had a little difficulty getting the HOSE attachment plugged in to the machine to do upholstery, but I used a touch of silicone spray on a rag where the water nozzle plugs into the machine and that fixed it. I've seen a few complaints that the cleaning solution bottle needs refilled often or the dirty water tank needs emptying often. Yes, you will need to refill the cleaning solution container a few times if you go slow enough to actually allow the machine to clean the carpet in a large area, and the dirty water tank fills up fast (it also has an audible change in tone to let you know you need to empty it), but no big deal. I keep a 5-gallon plastic bucket in the room I'm cleaning and empty the dirty water in there and just take the one big bucket out to empty it when I 'm done. I would advise maybe NOT emptying the dirty water container into a sink or toilet because there may be lint, dirt, etc. in there which may clog drain pipes? Bottom line - very impressive results for a great price, and the entire unit and attachments seem to be high quality. It is also REALLY easy to rinse the roller areas and dirty water tank when done. THE ONLY GRIPE I HAVE IS I DID NOT GET ANY 'SAMPLE" CLEANING SOLUTION WITH THE UNIT DESPITE THE BOX AND INSTUCTIONS SAYING IT COMES IN THE BOX. HAD I NOT ORDERED A CONTAINER OF THE HOOVER OXY SOLUTION WHICH WAS DELEIVERED SAME TIME AS THE MACHINE I WOULD HAVE HAD NO CLEANING SOLUTION AT ALL. Overall, I am really satisfied with this carpet cleaner and I wish I would have bought one years ago.

Cleans incredibly well. Going strong over 2.5yrs
I’ve had this carpet cleaner over two years now. I live in a college rental so we knew the carpets were gonna be secretly gross (even tho they’re “professionally cleaned” between each tenant). It has given so much peace of mind and pulled up so much grime every time. It still works incredibly well. It’s easy to use. I have a cat and it’s been great for pulling up hair and removing pet messes (urine). I love the upholstery attachment and use it on stairs, couches, and the car. For the price, this carpet cleaner is an insane deal and I highly recommend it. I haven’t had any leakage but I recommend storing it on the included rubber mat between uses because the bristles will still drip after use.

Upholstery tool functionality was defective right out of the box
I am a long time user of an original Hoover PowerDash Pet carpet cleaner and I have loved the unit for several years now. I was excited to learn that Hoover had released this new Advanced model that included a hose and upholstery tool. I read several online reviews where users shared that the upholstery tool did not function right out of the box. Despite these negative reviews, I decided to pull the trigger anyway and make this purchase. My sole purpose of this purchase was to gain the upholstery tool functionality. After receiving the carpet cleaner, I discovered the holes in the upholstery hose connector did not align correctly with the connector on the base unit. This meant that the hose could not snap in completely and the upholstery tool unfortunately did not dispense water/shampoo. Everything was bone dry even when I pushed the button on the dispenser numerous times. I drove to a local big box store and purchased another (second) Hoover PowerDash Pet Advanced carpet cleaner to see if I would have better luck. On this second unit, the supplied hose clicked in perfectly (with no air gap) and the upholstery unit worked flawlessly. I discovered that the first unit I received from Amazon was defective. Neither of the two hoses that I had would correctly attach to the first base unit due to misalignment of the water release connector (shoddy workmanship from the factory). I returned the first unit to Amazon and kept the one that I got from the big box store. Please make sure you check that the upholstery tool works correctly right away if you purchase one of these units. If you discover this problem after 30 days have elapsed, you will not be able to return your unit. Hoover - Please get your act together regarding the upholstery tool! On another note.... The unit from Amazon came with a very nice black mesh bag for storing the hose and tools. It also came with a high quality silicon water proof pad that you can rest the carpet cleaner on. Neither of these extra "freebies" came packaged with the cleaner that I bought at the big box store even though they were the same model. The upholstery tool that came with the Amazon purchased unit also had more brush bristles. I had to purchase all of these accessories separately at a cost of around $40. Picture: The black connector should fit flush against the silver colored panel on the base unit (as per the photo). There should be no air gap between the black connector and the sliver panel. No matter how hard I pushed on the original unit it would not seat correctly.

Cleans Well...and but Leaks Badly
This little Hoover had great suction and cleaned very well, but it leaked like crazy--even after the dirty water tank was rinsed and emptied. Park it on tile or linoleum between water or room changes. Make sure tanks are empty and dry for storing. Good cleaner for the price. A Bissell I tried kept overheating and shutting off, and then fried itself on the 4th use, so I'll keep this Hoover for now.

Compact size that works really well!
Most of my life I have lived in a house with wooden floors. We built our house around 11 years ago and ended up with carpeting in almost every room, because it was less expensive for carpeting than even laminate floors. My husband told me we could install wooden flooring ourselves, but I did not realize that meant when my husband retired. So here we are 11 years later and the carpets have never been cleaned. I originally borrowed a full size Hoover pet carpet cleaner from a friend, and it worked really well. But it was heavy, and our house has four different levels with carpeting on three and a half of those levels. The full size carpet cleaner was really heavy for me to lug up and down the steps. I purchased this a few weeks ago, and have now cleaned every single room in my house with carpeting! The only thing that is left to clean is the steps, and I will be trying that in the next week or so. This thing works amazingly well for its size! It works the best in the smaller rooms because there is furniture that can't be moved. It took quite a few refills to do the man cave, but the carpeting now looks like it did when we built the house! I think the only problem for me is that I had to keep telling myself to push it slowly. Because it is lighter weight than the full size carpet cleaner, it's easy to move it around like a vacuum cleaner which it is not. It did not leave my carpets completely dry, but I did not expect it to. A fan on the floor and turning the furnace on helped with drying.. it took about 4 to 6 hours before I felt comfortable moving furniture back in place. I feel that this is very reasonably priced for the quality of the machine and the work that it does. I hope it lasts a long time, but would not hesitate to buy it again. Highly recommended!

Small Tank but Incredible Cleaning Power
I wanted to leave a detailed review because this was my first time ever using a carpet shampooer, and I was honestly intimidated before I started. It ended up being much easier than I expected, and now I’m really glad I bought it. First, shipping was very fast and everything arrived in perfect condition. Nothing was damaged and all the parts were there. Assembly was extremely simple. I also really liked that it came with a small bag to store the attachments so they don’t get lost. Using the machine was surprisingly easy. I had never used a carpet cleaner before, but once I started it became very straightforward. One thing people mentioned in other reviews is true — the reservoir is on the smaller side, so you will need to empty it more often. However, a little cleaning solution goes a long way, so you really don’t need much. My cleaning routine that worked best was: 1. Vacuum the carpet thoroughly first. 2. Shampoo the carpet slowly. 3. If the carpet is very dirty, do an additional pass. 4. Go over it again without spraying to extract more water. 5. Once the carpet dries, vacuum again to lift the fibers. That final vacuum after drying made the carpet noticeably softer. One little hack I discovered: the tank opening is small and I had a large 128 oz bottle of cleaning solution. Pouring directly from that big bottle was messy. I poured some solution into a small water bottle, labeled it clearly, and used that to fill the tank. It made pouring much easier and prevented spills. For context, the room in my photos is actually the smallest and cleanest room in my house. We moved in a few months ago and it’s mostly used as a playroom. No food or juice goes in there — only water. My baby crawls and plays on the floor there, and my older child often sits and plays with him. Even though the room looked clean, the amount of dirt that came out of the carpet shocked me. The water was very dark. What impressed me most was how the machine lifted the carpet fibers. Before cleaning, the carpet looked dull and compressed. After cleaning and drying, the fibers stood up again and the carpet looked darker, softer, and almost new. Another reason I wanted this cleaner was because my kids spend a lot of time on the floor. One of my children has asthma, so I wanted something that could really deep clean the carpet. I also felt comfortable using this because the cleaner I used is designed for homes with pets, and pets spend a lot of time on carpets too. Even if you vacuum thoroughly beforehand, the shampooer will still pull up lint and debris from deep in the carpet fibers. At first I kept stopping to pick up the little clumps it created, but eventually I realized that was normal. I just finished cleaning and picked them up afterward, then vacuumed again once the carpet dried. The final result was impressive. The carpet looked refreshed, smelled cleaner, and felt softer. For my home (about 1,100 square feet, three bedrooms) this machine is perfect. I plan to deep clean the carpets about every two months. Overall, this has been one of the best cleaning purchases I’ve made. It made a visible difference in my home and gave me peace of mind knowing my kids are crawling on clean carpet.

Lightweight Hoover carpet cleaner handles pet stains wonderfully 🐾
As a pet owner, I struggled with old stains on carpets and upholstery before buying this Hoover PowerDash Pet Advanced. It is compact and lightweight, so I can carry it up stairs easily. Beyond carpet washing, the above-floor cleaning attachments let me tackle couches and fabric furniture as well. Paired with Hoover carpet cleaning solution, it pulls deep dirt and pet messes out effectively. Suction is strong, and it helps carpets dry faster. Assembly is quick, and the water tanks are simple to empty and rinse. It stores neatly in my closet without taking too much space. Perfect for regular touch-ups and spot cleaning around the house. Very satisfied

Cleans well but LEAKS
I haven’t used another stand up carpet cleaner like this so my comments may not be fair but this thing is a pain in the neck. It did clean up my carpet. It leaks constantly. Do not sit it anywhere that you don’t want a puddle. As soon as you stop cleaning for a second … puddle. PROS: seems to clean fairly well, the storage bag for accessories is a great idea, it even hooks to the cleaner CONS: LEAKS water continuously, Honestly I think most of my complaints could be resolved by redesigning the clean water bottle: --redesign the cap so it is watertight and NEVER LEAKS --coat the outside of the bottle with something to make it less slippery. When it gets wet because it LEAKS, it is extremely slippery and nearly impossible to hold. --label it WATER AND SOAP bottle -- make the soap fill line any color besides white!!! The color of soap foam. --a quick user guide would be helpful: 1-fill water to line 2-soap to next line 3-white button releases handle 4-red button power/vacuum 5-trigger for releasing water Tips: prepare to cuss if you aren’t already. Throw old towels on your bathroom floor unless you want to fall because this thing LEAKS and makes tile very slippery. Immediately put it into your tub after using because it will LEAK.

Best thing I’ve bought in years
If you, like me have been thinking of getting this and you aren’t sure please run don’t walk. Run to buy it. I was afraid it wouldn’t be powerful enough since it’s compact but it’s amazing. I’ve had bigger carpet cleaners before but this is by far the best one. It completely dries the carpet with a few passes after it’s cleaned. Completely dries them. Best purchase ever. And it’s compact and easy to store. It’s not as noisy as the bigger machines. 10/10!!!

Gets the job done
I bought this as my new puppy isn’t 100% house trained yet. I pre treat the spots with pet urine / enzyme spot cleaner then do a couple of passes with the machine and it gets it right out. Sometimes it seems like the solution in the machine keeps going onto the carpet, even when I’m not squeezing the handle to dispense it. So I remove the container with the solution when I go over the carpet to suction up the moisture. The stair attachment works well and has a decent size hose. The machine is easy to clean. Hoover includes tools for that plus a bag with a hook to store the hose attachment and tools.
