Not being a trained hair stylist though (or animal groomer) I had no idea this would ruin the very fine topcoat of my 1/2 Maine Coon cat. I too have very fine hair. I can only equate this to my experience of having a stylist cut my fine hair with dull scissors. It breaks the hair and causes split ends. It took almost four months for my cat’s coat to feel silky again. This tool is great for getting knots out of the downy hair under her front legs.
