really good! a Frenchman's favorite brand
My husband is French - like, grew up in Versailles, French, and we visit once per year. His favorite? Getting pate e v e R: y single day. Finding good pate in the US is very difficult in west Michigan and I bought this with my fingers crossed. I learned from my husband that this is his favorite brand! (and we loved THIS particular pate). He says, "it's simple and basic, but the most delicious" Consistent quality also.I served with slightly warmed sliced baguette straight outta the jar. It magically disappeared ;0)-

Was $70/lb special treat, this time is $70/lb junk
This time I got the two pack and though the pop seals were intact the content had lost the Cognac and most of the flavor intensity. You could see shrinkage on side of contents, and darker shrunken portion on the top.Long time ago got this with the Cognac still noticeable and a robust pork and liver flavor, without excessive salt or pepper flavor. I figured a nice treat and didn't do the $70/lb calculation. This time I think I got ripped off big time--don't think I could get refund as the seal is supposedly intact--not popped. It might be that the plastic seal can pass the alcohol and associated flavors and this defect explains the rip.In any case, no more I purchase and I humbly suggest you do the same.

A pleasant surprise
Delicious on peppercorn crackers. Nice blend of meat and spices. Not overpowering. Will buy again.

vacuum seal broken
The lid labels were intact but the jars were not vacuum sealed. Product was rancid and pale green... consequently, I cannot tell what this expensive pate would taste like.

Awful
This stuff as just awful. It’s very bland, has a strange texture, and does not resemble or taste like anything we’ve eaten in France - and we’ve lived there! There’s also an odd, slightly chemical aftertaste. Blech! I’m going back to making and freezing my own.

The taste is delicious!
I really never thought that it was going to taste so good. I had a gathering of friends and they all enjoyed it.
