Review Welcome Reality will inevitably soundtrack thousands of summer and fall blowouts....Nero understand how to make things burn. -- Los Angeles Times. Glorious, splinter-thin moments when a sound is both free to do whatever it wants and still functioning as a new power source... -- The New Yorker. Nero's Joe Ray and Dan Stephens ache to bestow post-dubstep with its can-you-believe-this-sh*t? flash of stadium-size euphoria, enhancing (or defiling, depending on your perspective) the genre's bass-heavy payload with trancey synths and wailing vocals. -- SPIN Magazine

From none to some
I'll keep this fairly short. I really haven't listened to much electronic music at all, mainly because I used to dislike it. However I heard "Strobe" by Deadmau5 and decided to give some of the stuff another try. This was the first CD I got, and I have to say if you are interested in electronic at all this is an amazing CD to start with, it has a little bit of everything. I won't get into specifics because I wouldn't know the correct terms to elaborate, but in my book if all the songs on your CD are amazing and you only have one bad song on there in "Crush on you" which is just terrible you have done an amazing job as far as I am concerned.

Concept albums still exist
I bought this because there were a few songs I had heard on Pandora and it was just cheaper to buy a used CD than the digital format. (I'm old and still cling to CDs with cover art.) I wasn't expecting this to be a concept album, I just knew that I liked what little I had heard. Then I put the album in and pressed (or clicked, rather) play. I was blown away. I couldn't remember the last time I put a disc in and just listened to the whole thing. In a world of Pandoro, Genius mixes and $0.99 singles, when was the last time YOU listened to an entire album made in the last decade? The album has touches of early concept albums, shadows of Pink Floyd, Emerson Lake & Palmer with a dash of 80's electronica. There are samples of 80's songs and they even drafted Daryl Hall for vocals on one track. I'm also a moderate Sci-Fi geek so the faux soundtrack cover was an added bonus. I wouldn't call this a tightly bound concept album like Rush's 2112, but it flows seamlessly from beginning to end.Do yourself a favor and get the whole album.

WOW
Fantastic. If you are in to new age/dance, this is one to get. Very clean music. As soon as I was done with this CD I wanted more. I found they are playing here in Denver in a few days - damn sold out... and I know why... they are good. Alana Watson - the voice behind Nero is great and haunting - leaves you wanting more. I'm on the edge of my chair waiting for their next release... HURRY!!!

Melodic, Epic, Interesting Dubstep
I'm not a fan of most Dubstep artists, but Nero has the perfect balance of elements for accessibility. While they started in the underground EDM scene, it's easy to see why they didn't stay there. Not to insinuate that "underground" equates to lackluster, but to me it's clear why Nero has garnered the fans to take them out of the underground and into a larger audience. This album is well produced, refined, and consists of great melodies and vocal hooks. It's not overtly "look at my editing chops" or heavy on wobbles and noise, as much of the Dubstep today is. The formula is consistent throughout with one exception: The remake of The Jets famous 80's hit "Crush On You" was a total WTF? moment (not a good one, either). Aside from that EPIC FAIL (which took one whole star off my rating) this album connects with all listeners of EDM, not just the Dubstep jockeys. Favorite standouts are "Promises" which is a work of genius in EDM songwriting, and "Departure" which is an epic journey of strings and electronics. Lots of plays from start to finish of this album (with only the one track skip). ;)

great album
Have recommended Nero to many friends, and compared it to such greats as "The Wall", "Operation Mindcrime", etc. One of the most well written albums i've heard in a long, long time. Definitely Dub-Step, but does a fantastic of fading in and out of lyrics, samples, DUB, ambient, etc. Again, I would buy this solely on it's level of composition, but the modern musical aspect takes it to a new level. One of the few albums I own that I can play for my lady friends and they will continue speaking to me afterwords.... - DeeZee

Epic
It has been awhile since I have found a music album that I can listen to without skipping track. I love all the songs. I was first introduced to Nero while I was watching a trailer for Borderlands 2. I wanted to know what the song was, looked it up, and put the band on my Slacker radio. "Doomsday" is my favorite track. This is good dubstep not just plain old 'wub wub'. I enjoy the female vocals that sound almost like they are from the 80s at times. Buy this album because it is good stuff.

A New Classic
Nero has been around for a while, but this is their first full-length album. They start things off right with "Doomsday." That song always pumps me up. It's the first track on my workout mix. Nothing beats riding the river trails with this blasting through your headphones. "My Eyes" is another personal favorite. The human touch Alana Watson brings to Nero is instantly apparent and sets them apart from the rest of the male-dominated dubstep scene. It's not like anything else I've ever heard and it's good from beginning to end. If you like dubstep, or electronic music period, you owe it to yourself to buy this album.
