Okay read.
**spoilers**It addressed some difficult topics (multiple miscarriage/infertility) so of course the book was mostly sad and angsty, but it was handled sensitively. It was sweet.Unfortunately not a storyline that I particularly enjoy.

A pleasant afternoon read
Natasha Anders is one of my favorite authors, and I’m always delighted when she publishes a new book. This book is more along the lines of a novella or a lengthy short story. The story is a simple one, with a married couple facing and working past a series of tragedies and misunderstandings. Once one reads past the first chapter or two, the plot is predictable, but that’s fine. It's hard to surprise someone when they've read hundreds or thousands of books in a particular genre! Many of us who read romances have certain expectations, such as an HEA, and the story certainly fulfills them. The plot isn’t as fully developed as her longer books, but that’s also fine. Sometimes it’s nice to have an afternoon snack rather than gorging on a full meal.

Short, sweet, classic Anders
Mild spoilersThe story is short and therefore doesn't delve deeply; the tropes are well worn, the miscarriage grief causing a rift, the "I can't give you babies so you must not want me/I'm no good for you" from the h.However, Natasha Anders is incredible at writing about relationships. I love how the h and H solve their problems by communicating, rather than cheap tricks. At one point the H asks the h of there is another man. The h considers saying yes but immediately dismisses the idea, as it would cause more pain than it would prevent. THANK YOU! I wish more authors would attribute their characters enough common sense to realize that! I mean yea it moves the story along and causes angst but it damages the realism. Anders does a great job of giving the reader plenty of realistic angst without making the characters seem selfish and stupid.I rarely give 5 stars but this is quality Natasha Anders writing that can be read in one sitting. If you like a caring H, a quick read, and, most importantly, reading honest, open communication between a couple, you'll love this story:)

Abiding love
I would classify this as a realistic love story. The hidden turmoil that nearly undermines this couple and the frank, open discussions are so beautifully written.

3.5 stars rounded up
This was a quick but well rounded marriage in trouble novella. I would reccomend to anyone looking for a quick read in-between books.
