This projector is awesome! I love it
This projector is awesome! I love it! I bought it for my 3 year old for his birthday. I looked into many others even ones that were double to triple the price, but this one comes with 4 different discs with 8 slides each and so I liked it for that reason. Also, the orange stand moves around and can rotate 360 degrees which makes it perfect for a little kid since they cant break it. One side of the projector has stars that rotate (cute) and the other has the pictures that you can turn and view all the slides. My 3 year old can put them in by himself and turn them and he has a great time playing with it. The projections are so clear (when you use the focusing ring) and the pictures are up to date with the most recent photographs. One slide has all the planets (mercury venus, earth, mars, jupiter, saturn, uranus, neptune), one has rockets and other space craft (astronaut, space shuttle, satellite, rocket, space station, total eclipse, etc) one has galaxies and stars (spiral galaxy, milky way, & I know for sure I can identify 3 of jupiters moons: io, europa, and callisto, & there are 2 slides that I'm not sure on, I think its pluto, and eris, but I'm not 100%. The last slide (nebula, neubla, nebula, spiral galaxy, moon, sun, stars, & barred galaxy) We have used it all over the house, projecting it in the bathroom wall, his bedroom ceiling and also in his little rocket ship we made out of a giant carboard box. It works great and is child friendly, & my son loves it. What more can you ask for?

Great for the young space lover.
This was a gift for my three year old grandson who has just become fascinated with space, the stars, and planets. It was perfect for him and he just loves it. Best used in a dark room, it casts the planets on the wall, ceiling, floor, even your hand, The discs are easy for a three year old to put in and take out, as well as manually rotate them to change planets. If you flip the project over, it casts beautiful blue stars all over. It can be used as a night light or just to look at the planets and name them and see their features. The planets do not cast extremely large but they are big enough to differentiate clearly, one planet from the next. We simply love it!

I've done a 180, I love it!
It's lovely for young kids really into space. The stars look more like disco lights than night stars. Most of the images in the projector are very similar. I like that the projector zooms in and out. My almost 3 year old would rate it 5 stars, he loves it, I think it could have been better.EDIT: I'm rewriting my review because in the time size I reviewed, I've been with my son and this projector. It is not a useless your, there's actually a lot of thought that went behind it. It can stand in any direction because the stands fully rotate. So whether it's set to the stars, or projector it can stand on its own and even on carpet. The stars are actual constellations (still blurry though, and the blue is too fake), they rotate slowly that I didn't notice (kind of like we're roasting without notice now), the projections are actual galaxies and nebulas too. I thought it was random made up images, initially. I've been teaching my son the planets, and I'm re-learning constellations (I used to know them). It's bright enough to find your way in the dark without being too bright, so it's a perfect night light. It also turns off automatically whether it's on the stars or the projector setting, making it the perfect toy for a toddler that wants a night light but can't turn it off himself. We play with this everyday now. Batteries have also lasted, considering I put them in on my birthday (Jul 2) and it's now Sep 1 and it's still going with daily use. It was definitely designed with purpose and functionality. It's a household essential for us now, and I would buy it again if this one ever broke. It would be great if the projector turned automatically.

My boys LOVE the slide discs!!!
When the box arrived my son was already jumping all over with excitement. We ordered this product on May14th and it arrived on May20th (delayed 1 day). I wasn't too sure about the quality because I've gotten some "cheap" items from Discovery in the past. So far after the kids played with it for a couple hours, it's held up nicely. The lights are bright but the pictures on the slide disc are a bit blurry. I didn't expect HD quality but this is a bit off putting. The projector has a star feature that shines tiny blue dots when turned on and honestly, that's my favorite part. You'll need 3 AA batteries and a phillip's head screw driver. Other than that, there's no assembly. I have some pretty high hopes for tonight when we try it out. For now, the closet fort I built fits the bill and they haven't been fighting so far lol

Great camping gift
Got this as a gift for our daughter who is currently 9 years old for an Easter gift. Some of her friends got it for Christmas and said she would love it.As a parent I have already placed the 3 AA batteries in it that is NOT included and played with it. There is a FOCUS on the blue flat end for the planets. Someone had mentioned it was fuzzy. I sold that one. As for the stars being fuzzy they were to far away from the wall, it may need to be closer. The durability is great. We are going to be taking it camping with us as well so we can use the side of the camper to look at them. The orange legs are a great thickness for being moved side to side depending on if you are doing stars or planets.I LOVE THE OFF BOTTON! This will make batteries last longer as well.
