Asvine Black Forest Fountain Pen Stands Above the Rest
I've tried a variety of pens, but none compare to my absolute favorite: the Asvine Black Forest Fountain Fine Nib Pen. This pen has truly stood the test of time, consistently delivering a smooth and beautiful writing experience. In contrast, I've had some disappointing experiences with other brands. The Bolton pen has a frustrating tendency to leak, which is a major drawback. I found the Lamy nib to be too fragile, breaking after just a few uses. Similarly, the Wordsworth pen’s finish chips away far too easily, leaving it looking worn. Lastly, the Ellington pen was cheaply made from the start. I had to use Gorilla Glue to try to hold it together. If you're looking for a reliable pen that offers both quality and performance, I highly recommend the Asvine Black Forest

Outstanding workmanship
I honestly did not expect much from such an inexpensive fountain pen and just needed one for work where it would see heavy use. The pen was thinner than I thought it would which worried me because I generally prefer thicker pens. Regardless, I went ahead and gave it a try. The workmanship appeared to be excellent and the pen weight and balance were just right for me. Surprisingly, I found it to be a good fit for my hand and I grew quite comfortable with it over the 2 weeks it was used daily. The nib was a medium and delivered steady clean sharp lines without dripping or overflow. The only downside was the rather cheap ink converter. It works, but is quite flimsy. I accidentally dropped the pen to the floor several times and have yet to see a dent or scratch on it. Overall very happy with it. If you are looking for a quality fountain pen that does not break the bank, this is the one.

Clean your new fountain pen
I am new to fountain pens and have really enjoyed the Hongdian bent nib I bought a few weeks ago, but I wanted a nib that was a little thinner, but not super fine. Enter this medium nib hongdian fountain pen.I started writing with it and fell in love with the medium nib, but, it started skipping on me while I was writing (ink flow stops in the middle of a stroke). I was upset because it just got it and it is brand new. I did some research on the Internet and found that washing out the nib and covertor will often clear out any dried ink (not an issue for me as I just loaded it) and debris (now that might be a problem since there might be some miniscule debris from manufacturing and transport).I cleaned it out with water and a mild soap, let it thoroughly air dry, reloaded it with ink, and PRESTO! My baby now works perfectly with no skipping.I think I will clean any new fountain pen I get as soon as I receive them. I do not know where is has been, even if it is brand new, there might be some particals in the feed that might cause some ink flow issues.Pen quality: beautifully made and has a good weight to it.Will I buy again: yep since this is my second of this hongdian fountain pen.To those who have reviewed this pen negatively due to ink flow, wash it out and the problem will likely go away.

Great for beginners
I've purchased this style in 2 tip sizes, Fine and Medium. If you're a fountain pen person FYI the nib sizes are smaller than you're accustomed to. The "Fine" writes as "Extra Fine" and the "Medium" writes as Fine.Having said that, I've used the Medium as my EDC since purchasing it in early 2023. It's inexpensive vs. popular brands so I'm not afraid of misplacing it. I purchased the ink cartridges that were suggested and they've been ok, but the ink volume doesn't seem to last as long. BUT! The ink hasn't clogged this pen unlike other inks in more expensive fountain pens have.I clean the pen fully with warm water and dawn soap about every month or so. Followed by high % alcohol to remove dried ink and ink clogs. Still works as great as it did out of the box. The skip rate is typical when the cartridge is running out of ink, just pay attention to that and don't allow yourself to be frustrated. As with all fountain pens. the paper you write on matters greatly. The ink will bleed through thinner paper, but most inks using a regular felt tip pen will. Overall the ink dries quickly'ish.

Better value than other pens
I own several more expensive pens but this is the one I use the most. The textured grip on the barrel makes it easy to distinguish amongst other pens when reaching in a bag.It has the best cap click I have ever encountered. I actually thought maybe it was just the one I happened to buy, but when I bought another in a different color, they all have that feel: silky smooth with a firm audible click into place. So satisfying. My only complaint is very minor; the color coating on the ridge near the nib has chipped away a little. I'm pretty rough on my pens though and for the price, it's held up very well.Nibs - I have one fine nib for writing and a fude nib for sketching. They both behave on par with similarly priced nibs. The fude nib in particular is well suited to urban sketching and I can get a wide variety of lines. Writing with the nib flipped on its point produces a line similar to their fine point and flat on it's widest side lets me block in large areas of black quickly.

A good pen for left handers
I am so happy I purchased this pen. For many years I have had a love-hate relationship with fountain pens, I have always wanted to use one and have always had problems doing so, being left-handed the ink would always smear. I think the difference with this fountain pen is the nib, for some reason it just makes it easier for me to see what I’m doing without smearing everything, I purchased the brushed Black Forest pen with the fude nib. The weight of the pen is great, it has a little bit of weight to it, but not enough to get uncomfortable when writing. The one I purchased has slight texture around the barrel which makes it easier to hold. It’s just an all-around great pen. I use it for writing letters, writing in my journal, and even for sketching. I have been using Platinum black fountain pen ink with it.
