I love the transformers studio series
As a kid of the 80s I never outgrew the magic that was transformers. Through the years I watched the product line get further and further away from G1, more expensive and way cheaper construction materials, as well as lack of detail. This particular figure looks great in robot form , but really subpar in vehicle mode. I still say g1 and the masterpiece series toys are the best, the g1's had very few points of articulation , which made for a very stiff and limited display but they were so well made and detailed. The masterpiece series cost a fortune. The studio series is a really nice middle ground, no there is no diecast, and often the object they transform into is a little underwhelming, but they look great in robot mode. I think they are a bit pricey considering they are usually just 2 or 3 colors of plastic. But I think the studio series is still the best bang for your buck.

Great figure. Wish they all displayed this good.
Arcee was one of those figures that never came out in the 80s after the movie. I'm glad the interest in the toys has made room for this figure. It's very cartoon accurate and articulation is pretty good for the price range of this figure (under 15 bucks usually).

Heroic!
A great color pop in my display, and an important character.

Might Be The Best Arcee, Yet.
Pros: -Looks fantastic in both modes! -You can detach the lower part of the backpack if you so wish. -Has more of a transformation than the Earthrise/Kingdom version. (Man, that one's awful.) -Reuses the best parts of Thrilling 30 Arcee, none of the ER/K version and the all-new parts seal the deal. -Waist swivel! Cons: -The price. (This is Thrilling 30 in a new wrapper, let's face it. You're paying $10.00 more for the extra parts.) -The waist design. (There's not enough friction, or a tab, to hold the two halves together, she unfurls quite easily in robot mode.) -Only one weapon. (T30 and ER/K had good weapons. SS86 does not. It's film-accurate, though.) Final thoughts: While T30 Arcee is probably still my absolute favorite of the three releases, you'd need the Takara-Tomy Legends version to do it "right" (which is subjective, I know) and that's ridiculously expensive, plus it has no waist swivel. This SS86 version is a solid second place, almost first...honestly. And it has a waist swivel! ER/K version doesn't even blip on the radar for me, at this point. What a terrible Transformer toy. (Excellent action figure as she's articulated out the wazoo, but no real transformation, and what is transformable is aggravating and stupid. You basically build a shell around her. Ooh.) SS86 is pretty much the Arcee that a lot of us have been waiting for. Looks like the cartoon? Check. Fully articulated? For the most part. (No wrist swivel.) Actually transforms? For the most part. I do wish they'd have made the extending hinge for the torso tighter because if you bump the legs just right while trying to pose her, she just pops apart and you have to push everything back together again. It's a small price to pay, though. She gets almost everything else right. Let's put it this way, if she's any indication of what SS86 can do, we're in for a treat.

One of Arcee's better renditions
I was actually very pleasantly surprised. I expected something like the (in)famous two iterations from the same mold we were presented with in Earthrise and Kingdom (that mold is the worst I've ever seen for Arcee). Instead I received an Arcee that resembles the Thrilling 30 model. Note that this is a very small "deluxe" sized figurine. It's closer to legend class. Aside from that, this is the Arcee I remember from the original cartoon and movie. The only thing that nags me is the cutout open front. Nothing to protect the figurine. I wish Hasbro would put at least enough plastic to protect the opening. Go for it, it's a good one.

Studio series is what Transformers always could have been.
This was my fifth purchase of the Transformers the Movie collection of Studio Series. If I had known the level of detail and complexity that the line had I would have started collecting them a few years ago. Let me start off by saying that this is not a toy for a younger child as some of the moves required to change from robot to car mode are challenging. This is a collector level toy that has real display quality. It is very posable and the included backdrop gives the feel of a scene right out of the movie. Pros: lots of Articulation, joints are forgiving and parts will pop back on if you twist or turn them wrong. Works well with other entries in the line. Cons: The instructions are not the best. Not an exact match but close enough. Takes a bit to balance due to the back. Having Arcee makes it another step in having the full set of Transformers the Movie toys. Great price on Prime days, great deal.

An incrementally better figure, of a beloved character.
Itโs really great to see G1 Arcee properly represented in toy form in the Studio Series 86 line. Robot, alt mode, and color ways are solid. The evolution of Arcee, at this price point, is exciting! However, where SS86 Arcee loses points for me is in presentation. While I appreciate Hasbroโs intent with the packaging, it leaves a lot to be desired on the collectorโs side. The artwork is, and has been awesome, in the Legacy and SS lines. But, the lack of window, open air packaging makes the figure look cheap, broken, and haphazardly strapped in like a hostage. Please stop with the non-reusable straps. I would love to see 2-layer clamshell packaging securing and displaying the figures for the Studio Series. I get that this is the antithesis of the current intent, but these figures are not cheap, and somewhat niche. Clamshell just looks better, premium, and allows collectors to non destructively remove and store the figure. Also the lack of consistency in the packaging across the line is really frustrating. For example, Perceptor (also in open air windowless) has an 86 knock out. Arcee, an autobot emblem knockout. Why? Letโs figure this out, Hasbro.
