the wire !
this is a very smartly enginered device that connected with medium difficulty to my iTunes on a MacBook 12" running High Sierra . Initially it did not connect at all and that is because I used a CONNECTOR WIRE DIFFERENT FROM THE ONE SHIPPED. don't do it, at least initially. The software downloaded allowed loadig from iTunes to the MP3 player and listening to the device while swimming as well as manipulating its controls worked just fine. It may well work with other connecting wires, but I did not try it. An overall GOOD buy! F/U Feb 2021: Updated software from the SONY site: excellent connection with Mac OS 11.2 BIG SUR. Very nice, despite the overcomplexity of the gestures and buttons. The best product of this sort as of now.

Works really well overall
I swim lots of laps at my local pool throughout the year. I bought this so that I could listen to books from I I-phone, using the blue tooth function. The product works great so long as my head is mostly out of the water and since I am usually swimming free-style or breast stroke it get 95% of the transmission. If i go under the water or swim back stroke I can't hear any thing. If I download music directly to the headphones it works flawlessly. It also does a good job at keeping water out of my inner ears. The buttons take some getting use to. Also it was difficult to get the software to work on my apple computer to download music directly on to the device. Once I did that I loaded several hundred songs and it only needed to be done once. I am very pleased with this product.

very clunky
first of all, very clunky for water activities. the bulk at your ear means they can get blown off your head easily. secondly, the support is gawd awful. the app is completely useless, it wanted me to download macOS software to the iphone. when i did download it to the Mac, the computer would not recognize the device. which is a super bummer because worse of all, bluetooth no longer works. iPhone, computer, GF iPhone will not recognize these things. a lot of money=flush, cuz sony will not warranty them because they were amazon renewed... wore them 10 times. not a good value for the money ...

Good enough. I like them, but some caveats
They work exactly as expected and the sound quality is surprisingly good given the environment (swimming). I purchased these purely for swimming. I thought the bluetooth would be useful for walking to and from the pool but now I've disabled it since while swimming it connects and disconnects when I get closer or further from my phone - quite obnoxious. Do not wear these in open water swims unless you are sure they are safely attached. They will fall off with vigorous activity. I've slowly learned a few things about their attachment/positioning. First I wore a swim-cap to help hold the unit in my ears, but that was a headache - literally. Then after a few times of them falling off in the pool on a flip-turn push-off or a sprint I started putting the swim goggle strap over the headphone strap at the top of my ears. This seems to work very well. I also have noticed that if the earpiece is the optimum size for my ear it almost suction fits into your ear canal, and that also helps keep them on as well. I agree that the form of the ear-piece is not the most comfortable, but they do not hurt for an hour swim. When I first turn them on, using the waterproof/sealed ear pieces, the sound is excellent with surprisingly good bass. However, after a few times of submerging a few feet while doing a flip-turn they become noticeably less full throated. The sound quality is still good, just not excellent. I'm not exactly sure why but I suspect the air pressure inside my ears has something to do with it. I am sure there is no water in either the headphones or in my ear. What I don't like: Playlists? What are those? The method of getting mp3 files onto the device is slightly arcane and not particularly convenient. Over the years I had built up some swim playlists on iTunes, then modernized to using a streaming service on Spotify. Besides the fact that you don't have an mp3 file to load from a Spotify playlist even exporting one from iTunes is a two step process, and you better hope that the file is not in some protected aac format. I have an extensive library of older music in file form, so it's workable but no new music from Spotify are available unless I buy them. Then I just play one set of specific files on the unit through folders. There is some folder navigational control on the device. If you put your playlist files into a single folder then you can navigate to different folders/playlists with a double click on the previous or next button. Your play choices are: Normal play, repeat play, shuffle play, shuffle all. And a pleasant female voice often confirms what mode you've just selected. So besides the tedious playlist transfer I find this water resistant player very nice. So far so good.

Swims longer than I can!
I've had these a few years now. I swim a few kilometers in a chlorinated pool over 60-90 minutes and they last longer than I do. The sound quality is excellent, better than AirPods or my Bose headphones, but not as good as Klipsch. The volume could be louder with the waterproof eartips on but, like others have said, it is probably a good thing for my sake that it isn't louder. I frequently listen on the highest volume while swimming. The bass absolutely SLAPS underwater. Bluetooth will NOT work reliably while swimming, the smallest amount of water will block the signal. You will need to load music onto it. This is because water is particularly good at absorbing 2.45 GHz (which is why microwaves use it). Outside the water, the bluetooth range is excellent. 4 GB is a bit small in 2021 (when I bought it, also in 2023) but it is plenty to load enough music or podcasts on there for a few weeks of working out without repeating content. Now that I bring it up, podcasts are probably the only thing I wish it were louder for.

Surf's Up - MP3 Player for Small to Moderate Surf Sessions
I had been searching for a waterproof MP3 player suitable for surfing for awhile but shied away from this Sony model due to some of the negative reviews. However, I have found it the best "earbud type" waterproof player on the market. I bought the player specifically to see whether it would withstand the rigors of surfing and found that the design works well both in terms of stability when worn and sound quality. Today, I surfed 3 to 5 foot surf and the player stayed in place (with one exception due to a wipeout) and the music never really stopped over a 2-hour session. Would not wear it in larger surf, but it is fine in small to moderate surf. Also, I do secure it to my wetsuit with a short tether and, unless you blast it, you can still hear much of the ambient sound, so not that much of a safety risk. Note: The key to stable placement is the adjustment of the flexible band that places tension on earbud wiring.

Work decently but can't connect to computer
I bought these about a year ago and use them pretty regularly. They hold a decent charge, connect to bluetooth easily, and I can even easily switch between bluetooth and the mp3 music stored on the headset. For swimming i did have to adjust my turn so they don't fall off but it was minor and now I am used to my new way. The bluetooth also doesn't work perfectly in the water, sometimes skipping a little. My issue is trying to get music onto the headsets. One of the selling points was being able to add music directly to the headset. I have a ton of music on my computer that I was excited to add to the headphones. Set-up went well and was really easy. I only added a few songs at first to get a feel for how it would work. I went back and added a few more songs and have been listening to them non-stop. After almost a year of the same music I was ready to add new music and the device will no longer connect to my computer. I've tried multiple USB ports and two different computers. I've tried to troubleshoot and came up with nothing. Now the biggest reason I got these headphones is rendered useless.

Better then expected
It takes a little bit of getting used to the various button functions and locations on the device and choosing the best ear pieces for fit and comfort. The battery life lasts about 12 hours on mine if only using the built in storage. In Bluetooth mode it only lasts about 5 to 6 hours which isn't bad for Bluetooth. I listen to audio books that I download from the local library into the built in mp3 storage while working and so far I love it. I actually own two of these but the other one does not have Bluetooth so I use it at night time to fall asleep listening to audio books as well instead of watching the television. At first my ears where a little sore until I found the right size of ear pieces, Now it is a perfect fit. I definitely recommend these for anyone who enjoys reading but does not have the time.the price seems a little too high but the use that I have gotten out of it is so far well worth it.

MELHOR MP3 PLAYER ESPORTIVO AQUATICO

Excelente producto.
