Professional Unit
Yes its really good insulated jacket does get hot but when the inside is 500 deg C but its not at a temperature that would cause serious burns . It takes 30 min to get up to temp but then WOW. I upgraded from a cheaper unit and must say that its money well spent. Construction quality is excellent and its really easy to use. Although its portable its very heavy but unless you are thinking of lugging around the countryside its not a problem. Th pizza peel supplied is also excellent quality although I would suggest also buying the turning peel as the cook is so fast you need to turn the pizza regularly or the side will burn. It provides a flame that mimics a big oven and the stone cooks the base but the top quickly cooks from above. Impressed!

As an avid outdoor cooking enthusiast, I was ecstatic to get my hands on the ROCCBOX by Gozney Portable Outdoor Pizza Oven. After using it extensively for several months, I can confidently say that it has exceeded my expectations and revolutionized my outdoor cooking experience. First and foremost, the build quality of the ROCCBOX is exceptional. It is evident that Gozney has invested considerable thought and effort into crafting a durable and well-engineered product. The stainless steel construction not only looks sleek but also feels robust and reliable. The oven's insulation is top-notch, allowing it to reach and maintain incredibly high temperatures with minimal fuel consumption. One of the standout features of the ROCCBOX is its incredible versatility. Not only does it excel at baking perfect, authentic Neapolitan-style pizzas with a crispy crust and bubbling toppings, but it can also handle various other dishes. I have successfully roasted vegetables, cooked succulent steaks, and even baked bread in this oven, all with outstanding results. The included pizza stone and optional cast iron cooking surface provide even heat distribution, ensuring consistent and delicious outcomes every time. The dual-fuel capability of the ROCCBOX is another aspect that impressed me. You can use either gas or wood to power the oven, allowing for flexibility depending on your outdoor cooking setup and preference. When using wood, the smoky flavor it imparts to the food enhances the overall experience, making it perfect for rustic gatherings and BBQ nights. Portability is where the ROCCBOX truly shines. Its compact and lightweight design, along with the built-in carry handles, make it easy to transport to picnics, camping trips, or even your neighbor's backyard. Despite its portability, it maintains excellent heat retention, making it efficient and convenient for outdoor cooking on the go. The oven also comes equipped with a user-friendly control panel, which allows for precise temperature adjustments. Whether you're a seasoned chef or a novice cook, the ROCCBOX is simple to use and provides consistent cooking results, taking the guesswork out of the equation. The only minor drawback I noticed is that it takes a bit of time to preheat the oven to its optimal temperature, especially when using wood as the fuel source. However, this is a small trade-off for the exceptional cooking performance and portability it offers. In conclusion, the ROCCBOX by Gozney Portable Outdoor Pizza Oven is an outstanding investment for any outdoor cooking enthusiast or pizza lover. Its durable construction, versatility, and portability make it a top-tier option for achieving restaurant-quality dishes in the comfort of your backyard or anywhere you take it. Whether you're hosting a family gathering, a friendly get-together, or simply craving a delicious pizza, the ROCCBOX will undoubtedly impress you and elevate your outdoor cooking game to new heights.

Did a lot of research and comparisons between the Ooni and Roccbox pizza ovens. Ended up choosing the Roccbox and am glad I did! It cooks an awesome pizza and fast. I like the option to add a wood burner, but probably won't exercise that option. With propane, I can get my oven up to over 900 degrees (on the stone using an infrared thermometer) and is easier to regulate the temperature versus wood. The pizza is not in the oven long enough to pick up much flavor from the propane or wood. Did have one issue...the propane burner flame was hitting the right side of the oven instead of straight up. Contacted Gozney customer service and sent them a picture of the flame. They promptly sent me a new burner, and this one shoots the flame straight up as it should. So I am keeping the five-star rating. And did I say it bakes great pizza...yes it does! Be sure to use 00 flour made for pizzerias for best results. Also recommend you get the Roccbox turning peel - makes it easy to turn the pizza without taking it out of the oven (and potentially burning yourself). You can see it hanging in the photo on the right side. I was concerned that the oven leg bottoms might scratch the stainless steel cart top that I have the oven on. I cut up some non-slip furniture pads and stuck them on the legs. Oven is heavy enough that it shouldn't move around much anyway, but the pads help hold it in place when moving the cart. If you are wondering where I got the cart, look for this on Amazon - "Royal Gourmet Double-Shelf Movable Dining Cart". Another plus is that the silicone cover doesn't get much hotter than just over 200 degrees (checked with my thermometer). While that is hot to the touch, less risk of getting severely burned by brushing up against it. There is a learning curve to cooking a pizza at these temps. I had a couple of disasters where parts of my pizza got left in the oven. Just turn the burner up on high after you are done cooking, and the oven will self-clean by incinerating any food left in it. Once it cools, just use a grill brush to loosen what's left of the charred remains and then it can be just vacuumed out. The front of it will get sooty even with propane. Bar Keeper's Friend cleans it right up. The photo shows how well it cleaned up after cooking a few pizzas. UPDATE OCT 2021: Had it over a year now and have baked a ton of pizzas in it. Sure, I've had a few pizza disasters, but it was operator error and not the oven's fault. It is working great and I am still glad I bought it.

I bought this for its portability. I can put it in my boot along with the propane tank, a table, and pizza prep equipment... along with my ski gear or whatever gear I need for the activity of the day. When you're done, fire up the Roccbox, crack a beer and start your tailgate. Even in 30F and snow, the Roccbox got up to nearly 900F in 45 minutes. I used pre-rolled pizza crusts from Whole Foods. They were sized perfectly for the width making it super easy. However, the pizza used 2x the dough that I use at home. Consequently, the outer edges started to burn before the dough under the toppings was complete. I let the oven cool to about 700F and then finished cooking the pizza. What I am learning is that the temp you need depends on the thickness of your dough. The picture I shared uses dough I made. It's thin. That pizza cooked perfectly in 60 seconds. Get the peel. 65 bucks seems like a lot, but when you're dealing with seconds between perfection and burnt, every tool counts. A final note on portability. The legs do not get hot. The sides of the Roccbox can get hot depending on the ambient temp. I let it cool to about 500F and then felt comfortable packing it safely in my car to drive home. Lastly, I picked up a cheap cast iron skillet. I used a sous-vide to get some thick steaks to 120F. Then seared them for a few seconds a side in the Roccbox. The sear was so perfect. Next time, I'll set the sous-vide to 115F. Suffice it to say, what I thought would just be a portable pizza oven has become a key part of our home cooking quiver. We used to use a pizza stone in our gas oven a 550F. Pizzas cooked in 7 minutes. The Roccbox is just that much better.
