Really Nice Fixed Blade
Sometimes the product is just right out of the box , honed the edge , and perfect, a very nice build, I own plenty of knives and this one is one of those tools that is easily enjoyable , WELL DONE !

Would not buy again.
I really liked the SOG trident fx, I had low expectations and it wasn’t hard for the knife to exceed them. Because of my love for that knife I thought the recondo fx would be a “step up”. Maybe my expectations were set too high??Knife is sharp but it doesn’t slice as well as the thin stock and hollow grind would suggest, there are subtle differences in the shape of the handle between the recondo and trident but to sum it up the recondo looses material at the hilt and the rubberized grip in combination with the polymer and profile give a less secure feel in the hand. The blade stock is thicker on the recondo but is hollow ground and tapers dramatically at the tip. I don’t have experience with 440c from SOG but the tip doesn’t give me confidence, while the trident’s blade stock is overall thinner it keeps its width through the blade giving a more robust point for utility work. The sheath on the recondo is bad… it holds the knife well and is ambidextrous, but the mounting system built into the sheath is the weakest point and the screw inserts back out of the polymer when tightening them down. This is not a “terrible” knife, just not at all a utility knife and it’s niche is meant to be strapped to a tactical load-out to do ninja things.Overall I think the Trident FX is a better buy from SOG. I like a clip point profile much better than a tanto so I’m disappointed in the Recondo cause I wanted to like it more… my initial impressions have not been good.

SOG blades made in Taiwan never disappoint! SOG knives made in China always disappoint!

Nice design, actually Cryo 440A as stated on the box
Decide to keep it as I do have a couple light weight knives made out of 440A yes "A" not 440C is what it says on there website. Says right on the box CRYO 440A. I am happy with the knife but the price is to much for this steel. There Tellus FX Which I also bought was less than $45 on Amazon , They both only Say CRYO 440 with no letter designation on the blade which usually means 440A. That being said I don't want to go thru the return hassle and still like the design plus 440A is more Stainless or stain resistance. To bad they couldn't step it up like the new XR Folders with the CRYO CTS XHP steel that would have been nice.

Respectable but not a whole lot there
Bought for evaluation as a tactical version of my Gerber StrongArm of the same configuration (FDE, Straight Edge). Full tang, grippy handle, decent steel, light, and the sheath is pretty good. Nothing substandard but it's essentially single-purpose therefore lacking utility and enough value. Spec discrepancies between what's advertised on SOG's site and item's box: blade steel is advertised on site as 440C and sheath as Kydex but box states steel as 440A and sheath material as GRN. No response from SOG. Way too many better options at this price point. All considered, it should be value-priced like the Gerber.
