It doesn’t have the “beard” of the Gransfors mini, which makes it less of a carver/knife substitute in my opinion but it has a longer handle and does plenty of work. Really nice for something so compact. High quality.

If you are looking for the highest quality hatchet that is big enough for most camp chores but not too heavy, this is it. It sharpens to shaving edge and holds the edge well. The head is a good compromise between a splitting and chopping shape and does both well. I've had one for years and love it. It is a little big to be called a tackle box or belt axe, but undoubtedly, some people will use it as one. You definitely get what you pay for with this hatchet. The fit and finish is flawless. It comes with a useful leather sheath. This isn't a hatchet I would lend to ham-fisted companion who would chop it into the dirt.

I bought this for motorcycle camping. Perfect size for pounding in tent stakes and making kindling. Very well made. After two weeks on the road changing camp every day, I am very happy with it.
