Well, the mustard color is not 100% blackout but the amount it blocks is good enough for our bedroom to allow us to keep sleeping without the morning sun waking us. They still make the room considerably dark. I also think that if I had more room above our window and could have hung them high enough not to allow the light to come through the space that you see in the photos, that it's possible that I would consider them to be blackout drapes.
