One of the best books I have read.
Exceptional. Easily the best book I have read for a long time. A combination of easy, pleasant reading and great information on growing. Recommend A+++

Very dry
Incredibly dry not engaging and very difficult to read. I could not get into this book at all. I usually devour gardening books but I could not get into this one. Perhaps because it is a collection of articles, but it didn’t have any flow. It garners two stars from me as Dan is very knowledgeable, however I still could not get through it.

I like this man a lot.
For me Dan Pearson is the Eddie Vedder of gardening, (and it's not just the hair) his words are thoughtful and poetic and his gardens are inspirational and impressive. I've never met Dan but I think I would like him, he makes me want to garden and it turns out I'm pretty good at it. This book is massively enjoyable and Dans words rival anything that Christopher Lloyd or Monty Don have written, two other writer gardners that inspire me to get out there and do it.

Delightful Book
A delightful book. I read a little as and when, usually in the appropriate month.I haven't ready Dan's articles in the Observer so each is new to me. I am thoroughly enjoyingthe book.
