Can you use the dehumidifier option at tfe same time as the air filter?

Yes. The design of the machine contemplates that the air must always pass through the space where the filter goes. Unless you remove the filter, air will always pass through the filter when you turn on the machine and start dehumidifying the air. The function that you can activate or deactivate with another button is the emission of negative ions.

Need to help with moisture and mold

Mold will grow in places with a lot of moisture. Since the mold spores will not grow if moisture is not present, having a dehumidifier will help to reduce moisture.
