I use them at cone 6 (midrange), and the answer is yes, but not a lot. Of course it will also depend on how thick the glaze is applied. I don't use them near the bottom of any pieces where it may run onto the kiln shelf. Rather, I use them at least an inch or more away from the bottom to give it space. Your experience may differ, and I recommend experimenting to get a good feel for how they act before putting them on pieces you really care about. Good luck!
